Pursuit invests in our Fellows by providing them with a range of services: coding & professional skills training, a sourced job opportunity with company partners, career support, mentorship, & access to a network of tech companies & industry professionals. Our intensive two-step, four-year Fellowship focuses on building meaningful careers. It combines one year of training through Pursuit Core, with three years of on-the-job support through Pursuit Commit. In addition to preparing our Fellows for their first job, we work directly with employers to ensure they go from entry-level to mid-level & beyond.

General Manager, Enterprise 

Reports to: CEO

Position Overview: Pursuit is currently seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial General Manager to lead the strategy & execution of Enterprise. Enterprise is a revenue-generating service that offers partner organizations a long-term employment & employee retention service for their software engineering teams as well as strategic cultural initiative for the company. This role will be instrumental in Pursuit's growth, as we are looking for a leader who will be strategic & tactical in owning & building this area of our business. You will be directly responsible for generating revenue by developing new partnerships & deepening existing relationships, coaching a team of account management professionals, building new products & services that advise enterprise customer goals, & bringing best practices into Pursuit. You will be responsible for partner engagement - building relationships & creating solutions for the CEO, CTO, & other key C-Suite executives. You will have the opportunity to continue to build Pursuits Public Benefit Corporation, which is dedicated to empowering individuals & companies by creating economic mobility. You should have experience building teams, defining & launching operational processes, & achieving revenue-based targets. Our ideal candidate has an impressive blend of strategic thinking, relationship-building, operational expertise, P&L ownership, strategic partnerships experience, & a strong enthusiasm for Pursuit's mission. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership Development: Lead the creation & execution of a comprehensive employer engagement strategy, identifying & cultivating partnerships that align with Pursuit NYC's mission & goals.
  • Employer Relationship Management: Establish & nurture strong relationships with employers, understanding their workforce needs & collaborating to develop customized solutions.
  • Program Design & Implementation: Collaborate with internal teams to design & implement employer-centric programs & initiatives that enhance the employability of our program graduates.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, job coaches, & other teams to align employer engagement efforts with program objectives & outcomes.
  • Industry Insights: Stay informed about labor market trends, industry developments, & employer demands to inform program design & partnership strategies. Seek a consultative nature of adapting services for a customer & industry segment (i.e. Cybersecurity, Web3, Cloud, etc.)
  • Networking & Outreach: Represent Pursuit NYC at industry events, conferences, & networking opportunities to showcase our mission & forge new employer relationships.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop & track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of employer engagement initiatives & report progress to leadership.
  • Company Awareness: Work with marketing to define & implement a customer-centric messaging strategy to promote enterprise business.
  • Financial Management: Own the P&L responsibility for the Employer Services division, ensuring sound financial management & accountability for revenue & expenses.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, & inspire a dedicated team focused on employer engagement, fostering a culture of collaboration & excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of 10 years of successful leadership, preferably in employer engagement, partnership development, or related roles.
  • Team Management: At least 5 years experience in a management position & exemplifies skill in leading & motivating a team of professionals while fostering collaboration & growth.
  • Strategic Vision: Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable plans.
  • Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal & relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with employers from diverse industries.
  • Employer Insights: Understanding of employer needs, labor market trends, & workforce development challenges.
  • Program Development: Experience in designing & implementing initiatives that align with employer requirements & enhance job seeker employability.
  • Networking Skills: Adept at networking & representing the organization at external events & forums.
  • Collaboration: Skilled at working cross-functionally & collaborating with various internal teams.
  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated financial management & budget oversight.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal & written communication skills, with the ability to articulate Pursuit NYC's mission & impact to employers.
  • Results-driven: Proven ability to achieve & exceed performance targets & drive positive outcomes.
  • Passion for Social Impact: Genuine commitment to Pursuit's mission of transforming lives through meaningful employment opportunities. Proven ability to inspire & motivate teams around a shared purpose.

Where you'll work:

  • Hybrid/Long Island City, NY
  • Staff will be working on-site in our Long Island City Office 2 days/week.

Compensation:

The base compensation for this role will range from $225,000-$275,000 annually. This range is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, & recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
