Were seeking a Manager, Packaging Development to lead the end-to-end development of innovative, high-quality packaging solutions across Glossiers product portfolio. In this role, youll own packaging execution from concept to launch, ensuring our packaging reflects the brands creative vision while meeting technical, sustainability, & operational standards.

Reporting to the Director of Packaging Development, you will serve as a key liaison between Product Development, Creative, Marketing, Quality, Sourcing, & external manufacturing partners. Youll drive solutions that balance form & function, bringing concepts to life that are both brand-forward & operationally viable.

Six Months Expectations

  • Create & maintain component records & BOMs in Glossiers PLM system (Specright).
  • Partner with Creative & Marketing to supply packaging specs including dielines, component codes, & UPCs.
  • Recommend technical solutions that meet design intent while optimizing for manufacturability, cost, & timelines.
  • Define & manage component specs, 2D/3D technical drawings, tolerance evaluations, & assembly instructions.
  • Coordinate artwork & proof approvals across internal teams & suppliers.
  • Support technical documentation, including test plans, FMEAs, & packaging matrices.
  • Maintain consistent communication with packaging vendors & contract manufacturers to track development progress.
  • Curate a robust packaging library of existing & innovative components.
  • Manage sample approvals & cross-functional alignment on packaging standards.

Twelve+ Months Expectations

  • Independently lead packaging development for Tier A/B launches, reformulations, & seasonal programs.
  • Deliver packaging solutions from early ideation to final execution, ensuring cross-functional approvals & technical alignment.
  • Drive innovation by introducing new packaging technologies, formats, & delivery systems that reflect Glossiers brand & sustainability goals.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, tooling, & testing to ensure readiness for manufacturing scale-up.
  • Provide technical risk assessments, cost models, development timelines, & manufacturability insights for new concepts.
  • Serve as a cross-functional project lead, ensuring coordination & collaboration across Creative, Marketing, Ops, & vendor teams.
  • Track trends in sustainable packaging, materials, & manufacturing processes to proactively evolve Glossiers packaging strategy.
  • Evaluate & improve packaging concepts with a strong emphasis on functionality, design intent, & environmental impact.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on packaging development experience
  • Deep knowledge of prestige beauty categories (color, skincare, fragrance)
  • Strong understanding of primary, secondary, & tertiary packaging materials & manufacturing processes
  • Experienced in packaging validation & testing protocols
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with keen attention to detail & ownership mindset
  • Proven cross-functional collaborator & independent problem solver
  • CAD, SolidWorks, & 3D modeling proficiency preferred
  • Willingness to travel domestically & internationally as needed

In accordance with the applicable law, the following represents a good faith estimate of the minimum & maximum compensation range for this position:

  • The estimated annual pay range for this role is $100K - $130K. 
  • There may be future opportunities for continued pay progression based on continued strong performance in the role.Full-time positions are also eligible for a competitive compensation & benefits package that include medical health insurance, 401K, equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units , Paid Time Off, Short Term & Long Term Disability leave, & a range of other benefits.
