At DigitalOcean, Data Center Technicians play a massive role in the success of our business. Our amazing Data Center team is responsible for maintaining & growing the physical infrastructure of the DigitalOcean cloud, past, present, & future. They own everything related to the physical servers & networking gear that enables our company & our customers to scale.

Day-to-day duties may include everything from replacing a faulty drive in one of our servers to flying overseas to set up a brand-new Data Center from scratch. In exchange for your expertise & enthusiastic interest in DigitalOcean, we can offer you a role on a fast-growing, & collaborative team where you'll be given regular opportunities to hone your skills & learn new ones.

This position is for the New York City area & requires you to be onsite.

What You'll Be Working On:

  • Supporting data center engineers with on-site physical deployments
  • Racking, stacking, & cabling servers, power distribution units, & switches under the guidance of data center engineers 
  • Replacement of server components such as CPU, RAM, drives & boards
  • Submitting RMA to equipment manufacturers, shipping & receiving gear to & from remote locations & vendors.
  • Work through assigned tickets & work requests effectively, performs basic diagnosis & repairs to hardware in line with internal SLAs
  • Assists data center engineers in debugging network, hardware, & Linux OS-related issues
  • Assists with asset management, tracks & monitors data center hardware & component inventory

What Well Expect From You:

  • Hands-on experience with servers, hardware, & networking is preferred but not essential
  • Passionate about data center hardware & infrastructure
  • Interest in networking, hardware, & Linux OS
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, collaborative nature, & a friendly can-do attitude
  • Can perform a basic level of troubleshooting preferred but not essential
  • A strong desire & aptitude for solving problems 
  • A valid drivers license (must be comfortable with driving)
  • Willing to receive guidance from senior engineers & technicians
  • Ability to logically analyze & solve problems
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally (10% - 15% travel)
  • Ability to be on your feet all-day
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to be on-call outside of business hours for escalations as needed

  • We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $85,200 based on market data, relevant years of experience, & skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company & individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire & the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
