The Role
BuzzFeed is looking for an experienced & detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team based in our New York office. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a multi-entity global environment, with exceptional analytical, management, communication, & technology skills. The role will report to the Director, Accounting.

Youll play a key role in driving accuracy, efficiency, & engagement across our global accounting organization, empowering your team to grow & fostering a culture of accountability & collaboration.
You Will
- Lead & mentor the global operating expense team of four accountants, fostering collaboration & continuous improvements.
- Oversee the monthly & quarterly financial close process for global operating expense functions while providing timely & accurate reporting.
- Review, approve, & initiate journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, & variance analysis.
- Understand, analyze & interpret for exposure areas in deferred rent, capitalized software, prepaid & accrued expenses for reconciliation purposes.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, & asset tracking in accordance with company policy & accounting standards.
- Enhance existing company procedures to align with best practices around global operating expense procedures. Identify opportunities to streamline & increase efficiency & accuracy.
- Assemble & provide support for ongoing workpaper creation, updates, & roll forwards.
- Serve as an escalation point to resolve problems or inconsistencies, ensuring effective problem-solving with a continuous process-improvement mindset.
- Work with appropriate internal stakeholders to improve accuracy & timelines for key inputs & provide recommendations to operational issues based on accounting guidance.
- Ability to manipulate & interpret large amounts of data.
- Assist with auditor requests for quarterly reviews & year-end audits.
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, & maintaining strong employee relationships.
You Have
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field. CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public company experience
- Experience leading & developing teams, especially in a dynamic, fast paced global environment.
- Proficient in Excel & experience with Netsuite & Concur
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, & decision-making skills. Ability to think outside the box, comfortable with ambiguity & providing suggestions & guidance
- Excellent organization skills & superior attention to detail including the ability to manipulate & interpret large amounts of data
- Self-starter, independently motivated with a proactive approach & the ability to motivate & inspire others
- Exceptional communication & interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to effectively delegate & meet necessary deadlines.
