Title: Editor

HelloFresh is in search of an organized & detail-oriented Editor to join our growing Editorial Team. The ideal candidate should have excellent recipe editing, food writing, grammar, & proofreading skills. We are a fast-moving team with a focus on producing precise, engaging, educational content. 

The Editor, reporting to the Senior Editor, is responsible for a broad range of tasks & responsibilities, which typically span multiple positions within the editorial structure of a more traditional publication team. Editors are continuously collaborating with the culinary team, nutrition team, photo team, product operations team, menu planning team, & project management team, as well as our team of editors, proofreaders, & production designers to produce over 100 recipe cards & meal stories every week across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, & Factor brands.  

The ideal candidate should have an intimate understanding of culinary arts as it relates to recipe writing & food media, with the ability to meet tight deadlines while also maintaining great flexibility when necessary. You enjoy collaborating with co-workers across multiple departments, & know how to facilitate a constant stream of communication. More than anything else, you understand that HelloFresh recipes are the most important connection we have with our consumers, & a successful recipe ensures a truly successful customer experience.

You will

• Collaborate with other Editors on the team to produce over 100 recipe cards every week & contribute editorial web support across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, & Factor brands, aligning to a stringent recipe style for each recipe brand through pre-determined, culinary-approved recipe instructions.
• Content edit & review ~25 recipes per week at various editorial checkpoints, ensuring clarity, consistency, & accuracy among recipes. This includes:
  • Completing a style edit to ensure a consistent voice & style throughout every recipe
  • Editing recipes for flow
  • Fact-checking instructions for accuracy
  • Collaborating with the culinary team to make any necessary culinary- or editorial-driven changes to the recipes
  • Reviewing recipe titles, descriptions, ingredient names, & instructions to ensure they align with brand-specific tone & style guidelines
  • Formatting recipe documents to ensure theyre compatible with DocsFlow
• Copywriting to include:
  • Writing recipe card & web descriptions
  • Creating recipe titles & subtitles
• Meet deadlines across all projects & tasks
• Ensure quality control of recipe cards, to include photography, ingredients, steps, & requested changes are accounted for
• Contribute to editorial efforts on specialty projects
• Assist with onboarding & training of new team members
• Identify opportunities for more effective workflows & resources

You have

• 3-5 years experience in recipe editing, writing, & content creationa background in food media and/or meal kit companies is a plus & a culinary degree is an added bonus
• A Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, or a Communications-related field
• A passion for the culinary world, with a vast knowledge of techniques & ingredientsyou find yourself reading cookbooks in your spare time & scouring social media for the latest culinary trends
• An impeccable eye for detail & nuance
• A knack for figuring out how to explain the most advanced of culinary methods to novice home cooks
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, & project management software (we use Wrike)
• Skilled in copy editing, proofreading, AP style, & ensuring adherence to style guides
• Experience assessing photography for culinary accuracy 
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, & written communication skills
• Superb organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects & timelines at once
