As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing & owning features & services end-to-end. You will report to an Engineering Team Lead & contribute to a hybrid work model, spending three days a week onsite at our New York City headquarters & two days remotely. Relocation support is available for those joining us from outside New York City.

You'll Get To

• Write server-side code, build high-volume production applications, & rapidly develop prototypes.
• Lead the development of new features & construct backend services using Java.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers & designers to create intuitive, customer-focused experiences.
• Ensure the reliability of systems critical to Squarespace users & businesses powered by our platform.
• Practice disciplined software engineering, including automated testing, comprehensive code reviews, & writing beautiful, readable code.
• Mentor & guide other engineers, contributing to their professional growth & the team's overall success.

Who We're Looking For

• 7+ years of development experience with Java, Python, Go, or another object-oriented language, coupled with experience developing large-scale software.
• A solid foundation in computer science, including proficiency in data structures, algorithms, & software design principles.
• A strong commitment to creating readable code & a deep understanding of database schema design, caching, & scalability.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 - $231,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
