Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Product Operations Manager I to join our Product team.

About the role

The Product Operations team unlocks Oscars ability to ship more products faster & better, which is critical to Oscars overall mission to use technology & design to refactor healthcare. The primary function of Product Operations is to execute & continuously improve processes leading up to product launch, as well as ongoing processes that have not been automated. 

Oscars work in tech spans several areas: building innovative consumer experiences, technology & infrastructure, expanding into new markets, creating better ways for healthcare providers to interact with patients, optimizing internal operations & processes, & lots more. 

As a Product Operations Manager I, you will work in partnership with a team of Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists and/or Designers to ship products more efficiently, serving as a critical partner to Oscars mission to use technology & design to refactor healthcare. You will serve as an expert within two domains, owning operational processes & working with leaders & stakeholders to identify opportunities for operational improvements within your domains. The first domain manages Plans & Benefits data for the insurance products we offer across all lines of business, & the second manages the Utilization Management tooling that deals with prior authorization ingestion & decisioning.

You will report to a Senior Manager, Product Operations.

Pay Transparency

The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, & Washington is: $119,200 - $156,450 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants & annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the execution of key product delivery processes and/or broader initiatives that scale & mature Oscars Technology teams.
    • Product delivery processes include: feature launches, bug triage & resolution, quality assurance (QA) planning & execution, & building/maintaining product & stakeholder feedback loops. Prioritizes processes within scrum teams to accomplish, improve, scale, & execute.
    • Broader initiatives impact multiple pods & may include roadmap administration, team productivity analysis and/or defining templates. Responsible for Collaborating with stakeholders to identify process improvements & partnering with business leaders & other stakeholders to develop & execute against a project plan for successful socialization & roll out.
  • Build & maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including, Product Management, Design, Engineering, & Data Science, to support effective collaboration & discovery of solutions to deliver on department programs & objectives.
  • Independently analyze data & workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Design & implement process improvements that improve efficiency & quality.
  • Create & maintain documentation to make processes sustainable & scalable.
  • Apply project management strategies to ensure tasks are completed timely. When projects are not on track, proactively socialize required support with appropriate stakeholders to ensure outcomes can be met.
  • Monitor success metrics to ensure applications and/or processes are meeting their KPIs.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws & regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in a cross-functional role in technology or operations.
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with engineers & designers.
  • 2+ years experience working directly with engineering scrum teams.
  • 3+ years of experience with common project management tools such as Jira or Monday.com. 

Bonus Points

  • 5+ years of experience working in a cross-functional role in technology or operations.
  • 1+ years of SQL experience (equivalent technical experience is considered commensurate).
  • Experience proactively & independently identifying opportunities for improvements in process & execution, with a proven track record of implementing changes effectively.
  • Experience navigating multiple stakeholders with competing priorities & making tradeoff decisions for your own work.
  • Demonstrated ability to pick up technical concepts (e.g. SQL, software architecture, development pipelines).
  • Experience using qualitative & quantitative insights to clarify decisions wherever possible.

Pay Transparency: 

Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, & experience.

Full-time employees are eligible for benefits including: medical, dental, & vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, paid sick time, paid parental leave, 401(k) plan participation, life & disability insurance, & paid wellness time & reimbursements.
