On average, Pursuit Fellows go from earning $18,000 to over $90,000 starting salary after the first year of Core training, adding $2M in estimated lifetime earnings. The Pursuit Fellowship is designed to build an inclusive tech industry: all Fellows are from low-income backgrounds; 70% are Black or Hispanic; 50% are women or non-binary; 40% are immigrants; 60% do not have a Bachelors degree; & +50% receive public assistance. Pursuit partners with top companies like Citi, Peloton, Uber, & Blackstone to employ Fellows in career-defining engineering roles. Since 2013, Pursuit has enabled ~500 low-income adults to attain thriving tech careers, representing ~$1B in aggregate lifetime wage gains, & lasting economic mobility.

About the role:

The Senior Visual & Communications Designer will help us progress our work by bringing ideas to life visually. Youll translate thoughts & ideas into compelling visuals, narratives, & designs. Working collaboratively & cross-functionally youll oversee design projects from conception to delivery. Design projects will vary, spanning websites, pitch decks, marketing materials, editorial design, information graphics, packaging, as well as environmental design. Additionally, youll contribute to our growing design function by creating templates to scale the design impact, & operationalize the design process for the org.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advance the Pursuit brand through visuals, graphics, & communications
  • Maintain visual & brand identity while owning  editorial design, information graphics, packaging design, environmental design
  • Art direct, oversee photography & deliver great design
  • Responsible for working cross-collaboratively on all forms of Pursuit designs including website, marketing materials, pitch decks, videos, one-pagers, swag, print - everything & anything associated with the Pursuit brand
  • Collaborate with Pursuit team members to generate ideas & develop visual concepts in line with project objectives, then execute those ideas on time & within budget
  • Manage & prioritize multiple design projects simultaneously within tight deadlines & budgets
  • Maintain brand consistency across all materials for different stakeholders
  • Support the Chief Creative Officer with materials related to our annual fundraiser, assist with projects for brand consistency in our office space

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Design, Fine Arts, or a related field 
  • Proven experience in design across a variety of mediums & target audiences to achieve intended outcomes
  • Operationally motivated - you love creating scalable materials & processes
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), Google Suite (Slides, etc.)
  • Extremely organized with an ability to multitask & meet deadlines
  • Highly communicative & collaborative, comfortable with implementing feedback  
  • A strong eye for detail & design, & a passion for creating unique & visually engaging designs
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creative & diverse design work.
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with photography, video capture & editing, and/or illustrations is a big advantage

Where youll work: 

  • Hybrid: 2 days a week in-person in our HQ in Long Island City & 3 days remotely wherever you work best.

Salary & Benefits:

The salary for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 annually.

The compensation range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles & recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted.  If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
