The Role

We are looking for an experienced & highly skilled People Technology Principal Functional Specialist to join our HelloFresh People Team at either our New York City or Berlin Headquarters.

In this role, you will serve as the technical expert for Workday Advanced Compensation while also contributing broad expertise across the Workday HCM suite. You will bring deep knowledge of compensation processes & configurationcovering merit, bonus, equity, & allowancesalongside strong hands-on capability in core HCM areas such as Staffing, Organizations, Business Processes, Security, & Reporting.

As the most senior functional specialist within the team, you will partner closely with Compensation & Benefits, HR, Finance, & Legal to design & deliver scalable, compliant, & data-driven solutions. You will not only own delivery of complex Compensation initiatives but also provide thought leadership & guidance across the wider HCM landscape, ensuring HelloFresh maximizes the value of Workday globally.

What Youll Do

  • Act as the principal subject matter expert in Workday Advanced Compensation, owning solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, & governance.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders (Compensation & Benefits, HRBPs, Finance) to translate reward strategies into scalable system solutions.
  • Lead complex, global Compensation initiatives in Workday (e.g., annual merit, bonus, & equity cycles; off-cycle adjustments).
  • Provide thought leadership across Workday HCM, ensuring best practices in Core HCM, Staffing, Organizations, Business Processes, & Security.
  • Act as a senior advisor within the People Technology team, mentoring colleagues & supporting broader HCM projects beyond Compensation.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve complex Workday issues in both Compensation & HCM, ensuring operational continuity during critical cycles.
  • Contribute to Workday reporting & analytics, with a focus on Compensation insights as well as broader HR data.
  • Support Workday data conversion, EIBs, & integrations across Compensation & HCM areas.
  • Lead system audits, ensure data integrity, & continuously improve processes in both Compensation & HCM.
  • Develop training, documentation, & enablement materials for HRBPs, managers, & business users.

What Youll Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on Workday experience, with demonstrated expertise in Advanced Compensation (merit, bonus, equity, allowances).
  • Strong working knowledge of Workday HCM modules, including Core HCM, Staffing, Organizations, Business Processes, Security, & Reporting.
  • Proven ability to design & implement global, scalable, & compliant Workday solutions across multiple domains.
  • Experience leading large-scale Compensation cycles in Workday, including governance, configuration, & troubleshooting.
  • Expertise with Workday data conversion, EIBs, & integrations across Compensation & HCM.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills for compensation modeling, validation, & HR data analysis.
  • Strong consulting skills: ability to engage with senior stakeholders, gather requirements, & deliver solutions aligned to business strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex Workday functionality to both technical & non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to mentor colleagues & influence without direct authority.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, HR Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
