We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing Fan Monetization team!

As backend engineers at SoundCloud, we build the infrastructure behind features that help artists grow their careers & connect more deeply with their fans. Our work involves large-scale distributed systems, complex integrations, & high-throughput data flows. We actively improve our tools & processes to support collaboration & productivity, & we foster an environment where everyone can learn & grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, & maintain high-performance services using Golang, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, & Protobuf
• Build & scale backend systems that power fan-to-artist monetization features, helping fans support their favorite artists
• Collaborate with product leadership, payments experts, & engineering teams across SoundCloud
• Become a domain expert in fan monetization & artist-fan engagement
• Communicate team needs to the wider organization to ensure efficiency & alignment
• Operate independently with simple guidance, driving projects from inception to completion

Experience & Background:

• 7+ years of experience building & operating high-traffic distributed systems
• Proven ability to function independently with minimal guidance, while collaborating effectively with frontend engineers, product managers, & stakeholders
• Strong sense of ownership & accountability from project start to delivery
• Production experience shipping services in Golang, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, & Protobuf
• Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MySQL, BigQuery, & Redis is a plus
• Hands-on experience deploying & managing services in cloud environments (AWS preferred) using Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Familiarity with messaging/queuing systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, & SQS
• Passionate about using emerging AI technologies to enhance coding & software quality

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $170,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, & location. We also offer a generous total rewards program - read more about additional benefits & perks below!
