You will be charged with working with business partners to identify, create & develop scalable compliance & regulatory solutions to create a compliant user experience. This entails providing day-to-day advice to a wide range of business teams, focusing on legal analysis, developing compliance objectives & resolving potential compliance issues that arise. You will also need to actively build & foster close regulatory relationships. This role involves engagement with SoundClouds leadership & regulatory bodies in Germany, UK & the US. Therefore, effective communication of complex matters in English (German is a big plus) & a history of successful regulatory management, are crucial attributes. The position will be based in New York.
Experience & Background:
- Admitted to practice law in the US, with strong knowledge of laws & regulations relevant to online platforms
- 4+ years of experience as a legal counsel, preferably in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department
- Robust knowledge of online service provider regulations, data protection & relevant regulatory bodies
- Experience interfacing with regulators & government authorities
- Strong analytical, research, & problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles to practical business situations
- Develop & execute comprehensive regulatory strategies aligned with business goals & timelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of regulatory compliance efforts
- Provide regulatory guidance & support to product development teams to ensure timely implementation of regulatory requirements
- Stay abreast of global regulatory requirements, changes, & emerging trends in online service provider regulations
- Develop & deliver training programs to enhance regulatory knowledge & awareness within the company, including the internal product teams
- New York or California bar admission in good standing or eligible to register in New York or California as in-house counsel
- Experience in copyright laws is a plus

The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, & location.
