The Marketing & Sales Research team is hiring an Analyst to create data-driven narratives that position Vox Media as a premium publisher. The Analyst will create data-driven stories, track trends in their designated verticals, & conduct surveys with the goal of showcasing the quality of Vox Medias audience while simultaneously demonstrating our in-depth industry knowledge.
The Analyst works closely with internal stakeholders in Sales, Marketing, & Editorial to fulfill their insights needs & provide solid evidence in support of their stories & sales proposals. The Analyst uses sources such as Comscore, Google Analytics, & internal custom surveys to weave narratives about the Vox Media audience within their designated consumer verticals. The Analyst also uses available data to answer miscellaneous business questions, prepare professional-looking reports, write summaries of market trends, & present research findings to internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have basic experience analyzing numbers, manipulating data in spreadsheets, & summarizing data in text format. The candidate needs the ability to think creatively about data & how to apply it to create a story. The candidate must be patient & willing to support internal stakeholders in their search for the perfect number that could motivate clients to partner with Vox Media.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Become the go-to for insights in your designated verticals (i.e. beauty, retail, CPG).
- Prepare narratives tailored to internal stakeholders needs in an environment requiring short turnaround times.
- Conduct surveys of the Vox Media audience including writing questionnaires, programming surveys, analyzing study results, & ensuring the results are presented in a relevant manner to internal stakeholders.
- Combine third-party & internal survey data to highlight new & emerging consumer trends & sentiments that may better position Vox Media to its clients.
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelors degree required, preferably in marketing, economics, psychology, or other discipline that includes a quantitative component.
- 1+ years experience in a data-driven role or an advanced degree (e.g. MBA).
- Able to maintain balance in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines & comfortable with vaguely defined objectives that may change without notice.
- Ability to interpret data & use text and/or visual displays to illustrate concepts.
- Familiar with syndicated data sources (e.g. Comscore, Mintel, Tubular Labs) & extracting data from YouTube Analytics, Google Analytics, & Megaphone.
- Willing to learn survey writing, survey programming, & survey data analysis.
- Excel, PowerPoint, Word and/or Google Suite proficiency.
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, creativity & critical thinking skills.
- High attention to detail, organized, & comfortable with large data sets.
