About the Role

As we continue to grow, were seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale the Noom Med platform to support multi-medication management & long-term business expansion through 2026 & beyond. In this role, you will help redesign & re-architect our backend systemsevolving them from a single-medication model into a flexible, ecommerce-like, fulfillment-focused platform that supports the full post-purchase lifecycle.

Youll join a lean, high-impact team & play a critical role in building the next generation of our medication platform. Depending on timing, you may contribute to the MVP of the first version or help lead development of the second iteration of the platform.

You Will

• Redesign & re-architect the Noom Med backend to support multiple concurrent medications per user
• Build scalable systems that support provider visits, prescription management, & pharmacy fulfillment
• Develop backend services optimized for a multi-product, ecommerce-like post-purchase lifecycle
• Expand platform capabilities to allow users to manage & track multiple medications simultaneously
• Contribute heavily to hands-on coding (approximately 70%), with additional ownership in architecture (15%) & code review (15%)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Growth (purchase flow) & Med Expansion teams to ensure seamless integration across systems
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development velocity & improve engineering efficiency
• Ensure systems are reliable, secure, & extensible as the platform scales
  
  

About You

You Have

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend focus
• Deep experience in Java and/or Kotlin
• Strong experience designing & working with relational databases
• Experience architecting & scaling backend systems in production environments
• A product-minded approach to engineering, with the ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with high ownership
• Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development workflows & efficiency
• Strong communication skills & the ability to collaborate across engineering & cross-functional teams

Compensation Package

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$195,000.
• This range reflects the minimum & maximum salary target for the position for US-based candidates, at the time of posting. The actual salary offer is based on factors including relevant experience & training, assessment of functional skills & behavioral competencies, & location, among others.
• Other elements of Nooms Compensation Package

This position is a hybrid role, with 2 days per week on-site required in our Princeton, NJ, USA office.
