A1 Audio Engineer, NYC

Convene is seeking an experienced & dynamic A1 Audio Engineer to join the opening team at 30 Hudson Yards. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in the launch of one of Convenes premier event spaces. The A1 Audio Engineer will report directly to the propertys Senior Technology Manager with a dotted lined to our General Manager & our Regional AV Manager. 

About 30 Hudson Yards:

Spanning 72,000 square feet on the 24th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, this Convene location offers ten uniquely designed event spaces, including a grand hall with a capacity for 750+ guests. The venue can also accommodate full buyouts for up to nearly 1,500 guests. 

What Youll Do:

The A1 Audio Engineer is responsible for managing & operating all aspects of audio production to ensure we deliver an excellent meeting, conference, & workday experience to our clients. This includes setting up, configuring, & operating sound systems, as well as ensuring high-quality audio experiences for our guests. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in audio engineering, a keen ear for sound, & the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Audio Setup & Operation: Set up, test, & operate audio equipment for live events, including microphones, speakers, mixing consoles, & playback devices.
  • Sound Quality Management: Ensure optimal sound quality during events by adjusting audio levels, equalization, & other parameters as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly identify & resolve audio issues during events to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with event coordinators, production teams, & other staff to understand audio requirements & deliver exceptional audio experiences.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect & maintain audio equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Perform routine checks & repairs as needed.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support & guidance to other team members & clients regarding audio equipment & setups.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of audio setups, configurations, & equipment inventory.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols & guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all staff & guests.

What We Look For:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an A1 Audio Engineer or similar role in a hospitality or events setting.
  • Proficiency in operating audio equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, speakers, Dante Network management, & playback devices. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) & audio editing software is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong ear for sound quality & precision.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve technical issues.
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members & clients.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, & holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • A degree or certification in audio engineering, sound design, or a related field is preferred.

Base Salary:

Salary Min: $85,000  Salary Max: $95,000

This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums & maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience & other relevant factors.
