About Pursuit

Our mission is to create economic transformation. By training low-income adults to launch & advance careers as software engineers, we help our Fellows go from earning $18,000 to over $90,000 starting salary on average, adding an estimated $2M in lifetime earnings. Pursuit partners with leading companies like Blackstone, USV, Citi, Peloton, & Uber to employ Fellows in career-defining engineering roles & supports them with on-the-job training to ensure potential translates to performance. Since 2013, Pursuit has created ~$1B in total lifetime wage gains, creating lasting economic mobility that spans generations. 

Pursuits proven solution is built on two interconnected components: training (which includes community development, Core pre-job training, & Commit on-the-job training) & a financial product (known as Bond). However, growing training alone will not meet the magnitude of need nor solve new societal challenges ahead. The typical expectation is to expand our training to other cities, but this will not come anywhere close to creating good jobs for millions of low-income Americans. Instead, our strategy for scaled impact is to evolve our financial product & create tools for other organizations, jobs, & places. We believe that this will not only create good jobs for millions of low-income Americans but will also generate a new trillion-dollar market directly tied to results in the long term.

About the Role

Pursuit is currently seeking a strategic & entrepreneurial relationship-builder to lead strategic partnerships & revenue generation for our emerging tech verticals, primarily through our employer services model. This role will be instrumental in Pursuits growth, & we are looking for a leader who will be strategic & tactical in owning & building relationships in target industries, starting with crypto & cybersecurity, through sourcing & developing new partnerships & growing existing relationships. You should have experience achieving revenue-based targets, working with customers & internal stakeholders to create product-market fit, & familiarity with/an existing network within either Cyber or Crypto industries as well as a demonstrated ability to develop a new network quickly. Youll be joining a small, mission-driven company & have an opportunity to build new programs with lifelong impact. 

Responsibilities

  • Secure $2.25 million in revenue per year to support the development & expansion of vertical-specific tracks within emerging & frontier technologies primarily through employment contracts.
  • Lead & drive partnership & business development strategies to increase revenue & secure new relationships within our employer services program.
  • Build & maintain strong relationships with leaders in the crypto & cybersecurity industries (and AI, 2024).
  • Generate new partnership leads within the crypto, cybersecurity, & AI sectors & manage them through sales pipeline
  • Maintain accurate & up-to-date Salesforce records for the sales pipeline, ensuring data integrity & accessibility for the wider sales & marketing team. 
  • Represent Pursuit externally, generating enthusiasm & new leads at every opportunity
  • Contribute to  the ideation, planning, & production of vertical-specific marketing collateral & revenue-generating events
  • Collaborate across the organization to develop & refine sales strategies, including go-to-market plans for industry-specific tracks.
  • Oversee the ideation, planning, & production of revenue-generating events

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in enterprise business development and/or sales achieving revenue based targets of $2M+ per year
  • Incredible relationship-builder with an ability to engage, connect, & maintain relationships with a wide diversity of individuals
  • Expert understanding of & well-developed skills in sales, partnerships, & business development, including identifying leads, building relationships, storytelling, negotiating, closing, account management, etc.  
  • Experience selling at an early stage of the product development cycle & working with stakeholders to create product-market fit. 
  • Experienced in progressing complex sales cycles, across multiple departments & levels within an organization to a successful close
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate across an enterprise, multi-threading to align complex services or solutions with a prospectives partners business objectives
  • Proven track record of building new business relationships & signing significant deals
  • Expertise at qualifying enterprise opportunities, ensuring the viability of a close, & accuracy of your pipeline metrics
  • Familiarity with & a network within the crypto or cybersecurity industries.

Location: Hybrid/Long Island City, NY 

Most staff work on site in our Long Island City Office 2 days/week

This role will also require additional in-person engagement with prospective partners at a variety of events. 

Compensation: 

Total Comp: $350,000

$150,000 - 180,000 base with incentive-based performance bonus
