The Retail Planning & Operations Manager (RPO) will play a meaningful role in leading retail operational excellence from the shelf back, ensuring product availability & outstanding execution for the Harrys & Flamingo brands in US Retail. The RPO will be aligned with a channel or retailer & will be responsible for driving ongoing forecasting & replenishment needs, leading retail operations strategy & execution, & developing collaborative relationships with key external partners. For this role, we need an outstanding operational leader one who understands how retail supply chain & in-store operations work, is able to self-start to address problems quickly, & takes a data-driven approach to prioritization & execution. This role will require strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, communication skills, & the ability to both set strategy & drive execution.

RPO Roles & responsibilities:

  • Partner with the sales channel director, demand planning, distribution, & external counterparts (inventory managers, etc.) to lead ongoing forecasting & replenishment needs for the business
  • Serve as the operational lead when communicating back to the external counterparts; be a key resource to the retail team in terms of solution selling that impacts both the top & bottom line of our business, & our customers (retailers)
  • Lead retail operations activities within the relevant channel/retailer based on standard processes & data-driven insights; measure return on investment for all retail ops activities to optimize investments. 
  • Manage third party brokers to ensure the highest level of execution around channel needs & requirements for each customer
  • Develop reporting & scorecarding linked to operational success metrics & key performance indicators
  • Identify gaps in current operational practices & work with retail operations, channel sales directors, & external partners (HQ brokers, retail ops partners, retailer inventory & supply chain specialists) to create strategic roadmaps for progress
  • Drive all reporting & communication within retail (internally & externally) on critical metrics & breakthroughs related to central initiatives
  • Serve as the liaison between external ops teams & internal XF supply chain partners where needed to drive retail planning & operations improvements based on the customer needs 
  • Serve as the go-to expert for retail operations for sales teams & XF partners for day-to-day issues & inputs for forecasting, product availability, shipping, & DC operations related to their channel/retailer
  • Lead integrated business planning (IBP) from the Retail POV in partnership with Demand Planning to provide accurate inputs with clear recommendations (with sales alignment) on how to grow the business
  • Share & reapply improvements  across channels/retailers to drive standard processes

Supporting our Grocery / Specialty business includes:

  • Conduct weekly replenishment analysis to ensure proper inventory flow between internal & external supply chains. 
  • Manage all aspects of retailer reporting, including Store In-Stocks, On-hand Inventory, & POS where IRI is not sourced (speciality, military, discount)
  • Support demand planning for retailer item & product segments spanning across the collective supply chains & rightsizing risks & opportunities at a retailer specific level. 
  • Identify opportunities for store operational process improvements & help drive implementation. This includes PSP management for data led alerts, in aisle / display ISM, & Ad-Hoc brand initiatives & testing
  • Build & maintain external & internal stakeholder relationships that will drive operational efficiencies.
    • Includes cross functional relationships with sales managers, demand planners, Retail PMs, GTM leads, sales analysts, & other supply chain counterparts
    • This is a customer facing role & owns the direct relationship with Grocery/Specialty Buyers & Inventory Analysts
  • Co-develop annual business plan goals & identify events that affect supply & demand. The RPO will play a role in Collaborative Business Planning in partnership with Retail Sales
  • Support any Ad-Hoc internal supply chain initiatives back with the Customer to ensure all KPIs are still being met throughout any change or new implementations. 
  • Manage the integration of the Canadian business (Loblaws, Save-on-Foods, Metro) into the existing workflows & processes. 
  • Manage portal access for retailers (Kroger, Meijer, HEB, Publix, C&S, Ahold, Wakefern, etc.)
  • Assist in item setup & pricing issues within the retailer systems - including SKU transitions & entering pricing for displays & one off items where pricing is missing in S4
  • Assist in order EDI issues, understanding the nuances of item number mapping, GLN mapping, etc.
  • Prioritize workload & time between the various different accounts & key internal & external partners
  • Attend key retailer monthly & annual meetings to assist & present operationally focused ad hoc content
  • Partner with newer retailers & broker accounts on accurate forecasting with limited historical data

Key requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in retail sales, retail operations, supply chain management, with some exposure to SCM Systems
  • Strong understanding of Walmart tools & resources including Nova, Item 360, Aspen, Supply Plan, DSS, Luminate, etc
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain processes such as Forecasting & Replenishment, Financial planning, Store Operations, Inventory Management, Order (retailer) Management, & Distribution & Logistics
    • Exposure to selling & negotiating within a retail & CPG environment will be greatly beneficial in this role
  • Strong project management skills including organization & communication, with an ability to self-start initiatives & lead multiple team members (including third-party partners)
  • Strong understanding of excel, with ability to cut through data to generate, prioritize, & communicate key operational insights
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities at the same time

Team structure:

  • All RPO managers will report to the Senior Manager, Retail Operations with a dotted line to the channel/retailer in order to drive consistency & best practices & to streamline communications with XF teams
  • The RPO sub-function will report (Sr. Manager) directly into the VP of Retail

The base salary hiring range for this position is $71,200-$97,900, but the final compensation offer will ultimately be based on the candidates location, skill level & experience.
