Warby Parker is on the lookout for a Staff Web Engineer to help drive the evolution of our mission critical business systems. In this role youll take ownership of the development, design, testing strategy & standards of the Warby Parker web application. What youll do:
- Help build & design a roadmap for your engineering team to build highly scalable, observable, & reliable systems
- Drive the execution & delivery of this roadmap across the engineering organization, working closely with stakeholders, SREs, & other principal engineers
- Provide technical guidance & facilitate the process of engineering design reviews on migrations towards service-oriented architecture, changes to existing architecture, & making existing systems more scalable
- Build a metrics-driven operational culture support our practices for KPI measurement & review, as well as for logging, monitoring, alerting practices
- Propose & drive large improvements to business systems to achieve significant impact to our business
- Mentor & coach other engineers to be help solve technical challenges & grow overall technical prowesses
Who you are:
- Backed by 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experienced building modern & performant frontend applications with or more modern client-side frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular, Ember) in a professional setting
- An expert in domain modeling & system design
- Someone with deep technical experience with cloud providers, distributed systems, & service-oriented architecture
- A clear, concise communicator with the ability to influence others
- Someone with a strong belief in accountability, who holds engineering teams to a high standard
- An expert in data modeling in one or more modern relational databases
- Someone with strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, & complexity analysis
- Able, willing, & just plain excited to learn new domains quickly
- Insatiably curious & passionate about innovation
- Not on the Office of Inspector Generals List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
Extra credit:
- Direct involvement with open source software projects
- Experience optimizing the JavaScript performance of high-volume systems
