Squarespace is looking for a experienced Security Engineering Manager to lead a newly defined Security team focused on Customer Security advocacy to oversee the abuse pipeline with an emphasis on trust & safety.

You will collaborate with our Product Managers to promote strategies & implementations that enhance security for our customers while minimizing friction.

You will partner with other teams within Squarespace to define what constitutes abuse of our products & to implement automation & processes that reduce its impact.

You will report to the VP of Security in our NYC office. This is a hybrid work schedule with 3/days in-office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all teams handling abuse to define a decision matrix for when to suspend an account, product, or engage in discussions with our customers.
  • Ensure alignment amongst teams responsible for different types of abuse.
  • Develop automation with 'human in the loop' processes to assign a risk score to each abuse complaint & take appropriate actions.
  • Work with Product Managers on authentication & authorization strategies that minimize friction while enhancing customer security on our platform & products.
  • Keep Product Managers informed about emerging security techniques for authentication & authorization.
  • Track, document, & report abuse metrics.
  • Define, collect, & analyze security KPIs & KRIs for the customer security organization.
  • Mentor & support junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years experience leading a team in cybersecurity, with a strong enthusiasm for Authentication & Authorization.
  • You have solid knowledge of Linux operating systems & cloud platforms (AWS & GCP).
  • You have experience with automation tools for handling intake complaints & concerns from customers.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001.
  • You are adept at working collaboratively with stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
  • Knowledge of software development, design, & proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, Node, or Go.
  • 1+ years of experience with domain or website abuse processes.

Cash Compensation Range: $185,500 - $299,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
