The Sr. Software Engineer, Web (Front-End) will play a pivotal role in the architecture, design, development, & maintenance of Vimeo's website & web-based applications. The role demands a high level of technical expertise to create sophisticated, optimized, & scalable front-end solutions that deliver a seamless user experience. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Senior Front-End Engineer will lead front-end initiatives, mentor junior developers, & contribute to the strategic direction of our front-end technology stack.
What youll do:
- Architect, design, & develop responsive, mobile-friendly websites & web-based applications with a focus on scalability & maintainability
- Lead collaboration with designers to refine & implement visually appealing, user-centric interfaces
- Write robust, clean, & documented code, ensuring long-term quality & maintainability
- Optimize websites for speed, security, & accessibility, adhering to Core Web Vitals & best practices
- Oversee & improve testing & debugging processes, ensuring cross-browser & device compatibility
- Research & integrate new web technologies, frameworks, & tools to keep the company at the forefront of front-end development
- Provide technical leadership in front-end development & guide the team with code reviews & mentorship
- Collaborate closely with back-end developers for seamless feature integration
- Manage complex projects, coordinating with project managers to meet deadlines & deliver high-quality products
- Influence & contribute to internal coding standards, development processes, & front-end strategy
Skills & knowledge you should possess:
- 4-7 years of experience in front-end web development, with a proven track record of successful project delivery
- Strong experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React.JS, with a thorough understanding of its core principles
- Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, & modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Expertise in responsive web design, mobile-first development, & cross-browser compatibility
- Advanced experience with CSS preprocessors (Sass or Less); familiarity with Tailwind CSS is a plus
- Mastery of version control tools such as Git & familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment practices
- In-depth knowledge of web performance, optimization techniques, & best practices
- Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, & troubleshooting skills
- Outstanding communication, leadership, & teamwork abilities
- Ability to mentor junior developers & drive technical discussions
- Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind & outstanding organizational skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Targeted Base Salary Range: $122,400 to $187,000
The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the New York City metro area.
