Job Description:
The Senior Manager of Accounting is a member of the Accounting team within US Finance & is responsible for Inventory Accounting for Factor, one of our highest growth brands. The position reports to the Director of Inventory & Logistics Accounting & will manage a small team of 1-2 accountants. This is a critical role to our business & is a roll up your sleeves type of role, where you should genuinely enjoy analyzing data, streamlining processes, workpapers & calculations, crunching numbers, & doing whatever it takes to ensure that our accounting function runs as smoothly & efficiently as possible.
You will
- Act as a subject matter expert on costing & inventory treatment of accounting transactions & related financial reporting requirements, explore & offer solutions & best practices.
- Manage the inventory monthly close function for Factor & other brands within Hello Fresh, ensuring completeness & accuracy of accounting records, & working collaboratively with your team to meet a strict timeline.
- Develop a strong understanding of the available data & data sources & provide analysis of the potential risks & mitigations for each.
- Review inventory valuation, purchase accruals & assist month-end close & financial reporting for inventory accounts.
- Support accounting & reporting requirements including internal & external audit, period closing & explanation of variances to budget, management reporting & prior periods. Ensure audit preparedness & compliance. Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility.
- Maintain relationships within inventory accounting team & other business partners including working closely with the FP&A & Operational functions to increase transparency on business performance & support cost control.
- Assist in special projects or requested cost analysis.
- Own assigned month-end close processes & key controls, review account reconciliations and record journal entries & improve supporting documentation.
- Build relationships & collaborate with the AP team, Logistics, & Warehouse personnel to ensure inventory processes & counts are complete & accurate, which may require occasional travel.
- Develop, prepare, & present financial analyses that include accurate & reliable information to provide direction in strategic decisions.
- Develop & document process improvements that support strong fiscal management & reporting.
- Conduct research & provide technical guidance on areas of responsibility if requested.
- Investigate & resolve inventory irregularities, providing solutions & guidance.
- Review the work of staff accountants & mentor them in their area of responsibility.
- Devise proposals to improve accounting processes in order to shorten time to close, improve controls & ensure scalability as the business grows.
- Provide additional ad hoc reports & analyses as needed.

- Must have consumer products/manufacturing experience with standard costing.

- Thorough understanding of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process, & cost accounting principles.
- Able to work comfortably under pressure & work towards tight deadlines.
- A strong sense of ownership & attention to detail.
- Drive to continuously improve & build processes.
- Highly advanced Excel & data organization skills
- Ability to resolve escalated issues from the team.
At a minimum, you have...
- >6+ years of combined experience in public accounting & corporate accounting functions, CPA or similar certification is required.
- Managing experience
- Substantive quantitative skills & proficiency in Excel.
- Strong technical accounting background; knowledge of IFRS is a strong plus.
- Experience in fast-growth environments and/or inventory-based E-Commerce businesses preferred.
