The backend element of our playback & delivery system is the core of what ensures Vimeo can deliver video content to anyone anywhere with the best quality of experience possible. What youll do:
- Be part of a world class group of engineers who build Vimeos video playback & delivery solutions
- Work closely with Transcoding & Delivery teams & external CDN vendors to maintain & optimize a seamless video playback experience everywhere
- Evaluate & test new video delivery technologies & optimizations
- Provide mentorship to help increase the efficiency, stability, deliverability, & maintainability of everything your team produces
- Develop & implement processes for building better software & development processes & become an evangelist for architectural & organizational best practices
Skills & knowledge you should possess:
- Extensive experience designing & implementing systems with clarity, reusability, testability, & scalability in mind
- Ability to communicate & collaborate respectfully & effectively with both technical & non-technical teams
- Have strong organizational ability & can break up projects into manageable pieces & complete them in a timely manner
- Experience developing services at scale with Node.js, Python or Go
- Experience using cloud platforms like Google Cloud or AWS
- Knowledge of video performance metrics with a proven history of making data driven decisions
- Passion around continuous education, research, & development around the latest video technologies
- Willing to work outside of textbook norms. Creative thinker who can take traditional software development practices & pull from them the aspects that will work best for Vimeo
- Top notch communication skills (written & verbal)
Bonus points (nice skills to have, but not needed):
- Experience with different video delivery methods (DASH, HLS, Progressive etc.).
- Consistently keeping up with CDN technology, deployment techniques & data driven development techniques
Targeted Base Salary Range: $127,.800 to $196,000
The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the New York City metro area.
