The Opportunity: This is a full-time staff position & includes IAC's medical, dental, vision insurance & 401(k) benefits. Title: Security Specialist Location: New York, NY Reporting to: Supervisor of Corporate Security Exempt Status: Nonexempt Compensation: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour ($79K - $83K) Schedule: M-F, 7am - 3pm (with the option for overtime when applicable)
The Security Specialist position is of key importance to the success of IAC as this is the first impression guests, clients, & potential clients have of the company. It is, therefore, imperative that a professional & courteous manner is always extended to all those who visit or call our facilities. Responsibilities: In keeping with the professional atmosphere of the office, the Security Specialist is responsible for the physical security & protection of assets & people on the grounds of the IAC building. Other responsibilities include:
- Provide security services ensuring the safety of employees & the security of workspaces & critical infrastructure
- Possess an expert level of focus & attention to specialized functions that are specific upon hire.
- Ability to handle public interaction with disorderly or disruptive people

Respond to incidents & emergency situations requiring security assistance, ensuring appropriate action is taken by staff, relevant parties are notified, & After-Action Reports are completed

Support first responders both in the Command Center & responding to events
- Operate Fire Safety Command Station to make announcements & acknowledge alarms
- Be able to operate an active & demanding switchboard when needed

Write detailed narrative reports & maintain daily activity reports
- Greet & tend to all guests, messengers, & delivery services in a highly professional manner
- Must be willing to assist security staff on nights, weekends, holidays, & 3rd party special events when & if needed

Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail & the ability to handle multiple tasks & prioritize

Perform all other specific responsibilities & duties as required by Security Management
- Comply with & enforce all IAC security policies, procedures, rules, & regulations.

In the armed capacity, responsible for:
- Use force when necessary & appropriate to protect lives & property or prevent imminent harm from an active threat
- Maintaining a safe & secure environment by employing appropriate levels of force in accordance with established protocols to address & mitigate potential imminent harm or an active threat
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5+ years of law enforcement experience is required
- Executive Protection, Military, or Corporate Security experience is a plus
- Candidate must own their firearm (Caliber to be approved by Security Management)
- Must have a valid concealed handgun license to carry concealed in NYC legally.
- Must possess valid HR-218
- Must possess a valid NYS Armed Guard Security License
- Must possess a valid 8-hour annual Firearms Training Course certificate
- Prior experience as a Fire Life Safety Director (F89) or willing to acquire within the first year of employment
- Must be willing to acquire FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F01, F03) & First Aid/CPR certifications
- Must be available to work a regular schedule, which may include daytime and/or nighttime shifts, plus overtime as needed
- Must be available to work holidays that fall on scheduled shifts if needed
- A pleasant & positive attitude with a professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Must be adept at interacting with all levels of an organization, from administrative to senior executive staff
- Computer literacy in MS Office, Word, & Email
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- As a condition of continued employment, the employee must maintain the current active status of all required licenses & must carry the license at all times while on duty
- Candidates must pass the pre-screening process, including a background investigation
*Training, licenses, & certifications will be 100% compensated. Essential Physical & Mental Functions:
- Read, understand, & clearly speak English; constantly use speech & hearing (correctable to normal level required) to communicate with the public/co-workers, give & receive instructions, & use phones
- Stand or walk constantly during 3rd party events & regular shifts when needed
- Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
- Constant use of both hands & arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using the phone, notepad, writing reports, & other administrative tasks
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public & co-workers, & view security monitors, including hand/eye coordination
- Work in various environments, including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat
- Constant mental alertness & attention to detail are required while setting priorities & following up on assignments
- Must be willing to follow the chain of command & established security procedures
- Must handle the pressure of working with a high-volume general public (ranging from constant to occasional, depending on assignment)
