The Data Infrastructure Team manages the fundamental building blocks used by customer-facing & internal analytics systems at Squarespace to store & process data. Your job will be to develop solutions that help scale our message queue & streaming infrastructure used by product engineers. We employ a variety of open source technologies in our tech stack that address a variety of needs (caching, databases, queues, & change data capture). We are making a push to grow our infrastructure in the cloud & you will play a critical role in that.
This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager.
You'll Get To
- Support our data infrastructure comprised of Kafka, Airflow, RabbitMQ, Trino, & GCP equivalent alternatives (PubSub, CloudComposer, CloudAMQP). Work with our users to determine capacity & functionality requirements, develop monitoring tools, & maintain reliable operations.
- Partner with our databases teams to understand the optimal configuration for applications that use both stateful & stateless services. Collaborate on data migration tooling, change data capture analytics pipelines, & streaming solutions for realtime feeds.
- In the short-term we're focused on migrating our infrastructure to the cloud using GCP but in the longer term there is so much opportunity to improve our current infrastructure to use the many alternatives that exist in the marketplace for message queues, orchestration, streaming, & cdc.
Who We're Looking For
- First & foremost we are looking for the desire to assume responsibility of pieces of infrastructure & define strategies to move us forward. We are looking for engineers who take pride & satisfaction in creating rock solid systems.
- Experience relevant to Kafka, Airflow, & GCP. Expertise developing backend services & ETL streaming & message processing using compiled languages.
- 5+ years of experience writing automation scripts & libraries in the Data world.
- Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
