About the Job

As a Senior Manager, Category Management on the Marketplace team you will take the lead in developing TaskRabbits Categories.  You will help define our categories & evaluate their current performance.  You will work with leadership to set development objectives & profitability targets as you spearhead strategic planning to reach those goals.  You will use data to develop key insights & forward thinking analysis to inform & support the category strategy development process.  You will have the opportunity to collaborate cross functionally with data, operations, marketing, finance, product, design, engineering & legal to communicate, execute & monitor category plans & tactics.  The ideal candidate easily navigates ambiguity & takes a pragmatic, data driven approach to problem solving.  Your intellectual curiosity & desire to learn overcome your fear of failure.  You are grounded in analytics & you are able to gain buy-in from senior leaders & cross-functional teams.

  • Develop annual global category plans & strategies leveraging company vision, internal/external analytics & cross-functional partners
  • Define & evaluate key category specific supply, demand, conversion, cost & profitability metrics.
  • Advance & inform category definitions & taxonomy
  • Build strong partnerships with key budget owners & cross-functional stakeholders
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on supply & demand acquisition
  • Have ownership over a category plan to achieve revenue & profitability goals
  • Identify sales, merchandising & operational opportunities for categories & collaborate with drive impact
  • Oversee implementation of category plan & execution of tactics
  • Monitor, track & report category specific KPIs


  • 5+ years of ecommerce, marketplace, corporate retail, or management consulting experience
  • Bachelors degree
  • Proficiency in SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau
  • Articulate & persuasive communication skills, written, visual & verbal
  • Confident, naturally curious self-starter with a bias for action
  • Analytical, leveraging data to to uncover opportunities

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with category management especially in marketplace businesses
  •  Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Numpy, etc.)
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects from scoping to execution.
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated experience as a fact-based decision maker
  • Problem Solver & Operator, willing to roll up your sleeves to translate vision into action
  • Experience supporting initiatives from strategy to implementation
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work with disparate data to contextualize opportunities & their impacts
  • Excellent time-management skills & attention to detail.
  • Adapts well to a fast-paced working environment.
