WHAT YOULL DO
Were looking for an experienced & versatile audio producer with a track record of producing creative & ambitious audio, to produce episodes for both our daily & weekly shows. Producers on this team come up with smart pitches; book & interview guests; construct the segments; & edit & score episodes. The right person for this position is delighted by the idea of innovating on foundational news formats like the standard two-way, & has demonstrated a knack for taking unexpected approaches to curiosity-driven stories.
- Research timely & distinctive story segments; pitch ideas for both Today, Explained and Explain It to Me
- Cover news & feature topics clearly & respectfully, never underestimating the audiences intelligence or overestimating how much they know
- Assemble research prep & write sharp, focused host questions for interviews
- Locate & book diverse sources & podcast guests
- Edit episodes using ProTools
- Score & edit audio segments
- Write site posts for Vox.com & help with social video
WHO YOU ARE
The successful candidate for this role is an editorial-minded producer with a focus on serving the audience. The right person is both ambitious & innovative; they are a voracious learner excited by domestic & global news as well as by internet & culture.
What youll bring:
- Significant experience creating audio stories as part of a fast-moving, collaborative team under deadline pressure
Proficiency in audio editing/mixing in ProTools
- A portfolio that demonstrates an ear for great tape & inventive approaches to audio storytelling
- Experience working on complex teams in newsrooms
- A highly organized & dogged approach to landing bookings on a quick turnaround
- Experience scripting & editing compelling, curiosity-driven stories or segments
- A track record of developing stories that draw on diverse perspectives/source lists
- Creativity & a desire to be innovative

WHERE YOULL WORK
This position is based in either Washington, DC, or New York, NY, & the candidate will work from the Vox office 2 days a week.
