Vox is looking for an experienced producer to join our award-winning video team. You will be part of a team that creates thoughtful, original midform videos, preserving the explanatory DNA that is essential to Vox, while also developing new video formats & series.
Top candidates will have a professional background in video journalism with exceptional shooting, scripting & editing skills. The producer will be expected to pitch, develop, research & report original video explainers on deadline & produce best-in-class video storytelling that Vox has become known for.
This person will also be a creative thinker who wants to experiment with new storytelling formats. We want someone whos not afraid to try new things & learn from them. There are many ways to create an explainer, & the right candidate will bring innovation & fresh ideas to the position.
This role is based in New York & is a hybrid role that will require some in-office days.

WHAT YOULL DO
- Pitch, research, report & script original video stories.
- Shoot & edit videos in-studio & in the field.
- Manage every aspect of video production from start to finish, delivering high-quality results efficiently & on deadline.
- Manage multiple projects at various stages of production in a fast-paced setting & maintain a pipeline of work; this role will require strong organizational & time-management skills.
- Occasionally jump on camera when it makes sense, bringing your own voice & personality to videos.
- Collaborate closely with journalists across the Vox newsroom to turn our journalism into smart, timely videos.
- Develop innovative storytelling techniques & formats.
- Adhere to all journalistic & legal standards at all times.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE
Were looking for a creative, enthusiastic producer with a passion for Voxs explanatory mission. Youll have:
- 2-4 years of experience in video journalism.
- A passion for Voxs mission of helping audiences understand what really matters.
- An established record of deep research, reporting, scripting & high-quality field production.
- Expert-level understanding of Adobe Suite, with a high-level of expertise in Premiere & knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop & Illustrator.
- Familiarity with YouTube video production & publishing, as well as, vertical video editing tools such as Capcut, Descript.
- Proficiency with studio lighting setups & field shoots
- Strong communication, organizational & time-management skills, as well as, attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player who will enjoy working across the organization.
