Senior Director of Real Estate, North America 

Convene is seeking a seasoned New York City-based Senior Director of Real Estate for North America. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Real Estate & working closely with company executives, this role will oversee all US/North America deal flow, fostering strong relationships within the landlord & brokerage communities.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven & skilled at sourcing & securing complex leases, managed service agreements, & joint venture structures. We expect the candidate to bring an existing network of landlord relationships, cultivate new contacts in the real estate world, & sell Convene as a unique opportunity for the landlord community. This role requires confidence in presenting potential deals to Convenes internal investment committee & external Board of Directors, while also collaborating closely with the Design, Sales, Marketing, & Operations teams.

What Youll Do:

  • Transaction Management: Coordinate internal & external stakeholders on US transactions, ensuring all efforts align with our ambitious growth goals.
  • Deal Structuring: Structure economic terms of acquisitions to meet company underwriting standards, adjusting for market conditions to secure optimal outcomes.
  • Pipeline Development: Organize & manage the pipeline of US site opportunities, keeping track of in-process transactions & prioritising high-potential opportunities.
  • Negotiation & Documentation: Negotiate favorable legal terms & oversee transaction documentation, ensuring all processes run smoothly & comply with relevant standards.
  • Underwriting Support: Collaborate closely with the underwriting team to prepare investment memoranda for review, ensuring a comprehensive & compelling presentation for approval.
  • Stakeholder Presentations: Present proposed transactions to the investment committee & board of directors, articulating key value drivers, risks, & market insights.
  • Strategic Growth Contribution: Actively contribute to shaping the companys long-term growth strategy, identifying emerging opportunities, supporting M&A, & flagging potential risks.
  • Working with an Operating Business: Work collaboratively with the operating business to ensure deals are structured for long-term success, recognizing that these agreements will significantly impact our teams future operations & performance.
  • Global Collaboration & Travel: Facilitate seamless collaboration with teams in the US, requiring regular travel & effective communication across multiple time zones

What We Look For:

  • 7-10 years of real estate experience, with expertise in transactions, leasing, acquisitions/dispositions, & strategic development; background in finance, legal, corporate real estate, or brokerage is an asset.
  • Strong market knowledge & industry relationships, with proven results in deal sourcing, underwriting, & negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, balancing strategic vision with tactical execution to advance growth strategies.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially in reviewing complex leases & business documents to ensure accuracy, favourable terms, & compliance.
  • Proficient at managing stakeholders & translating complex business needs into actionable real estate strategies.
  • Clear communicator with strong writing & presentation skills, adept at crafting business cases for executive audiences.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Excel, Argus, & creating high-impact presentation decks.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment that demands agility, collaboration, & decisive action.

Base Salary:

Salary Min: $175,000  Salary Max: $190,000

This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums & maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience & other relevant factors.
