By training low-income adults to launch & advance careers as software engineers, we help our Fellows earn from eighteen thousand dollars a year to over ninety thousand starting salary on average, adding an estimated $2M in lifetime earnings. Pursuit partners with leading companies like Blackstone, USV, Citi, Peloton, & Uber to employ Fellows in career-defining engineering roles & supports them with on-the-job training to ensure potential translates to performance. Since 2013, Pursuit has created ~$1B in total lifetime wage gains, creating lasting economic mobility that spans generations. 

Pursuits proven solution is built on two interconnected components: training (which includes community development, Core pre-job training, & Commit on-the-job training) & a financial product (known as Bond). However, growing training alone will not meet the magnitude of need nor solve new societal challenges ahead. The typical expectation is to expand our training to other cities, but this will not come anywhere close to creating good jobs for millions of low-income Americans. Instead, our strategy for scaled impact is to evolve our financial product & create tools for other organizations, jobs, & places. We believe that this will not only create good jobs for millions of low-income Americans but will also generate a new trillion-dollar market directly tied to results in the long term.

Position Overview: Pursuit is in search of an experienced & diligent recruiter to join our Talent Acquisition team for a significant & challenging growth phase. Well need this individual to partner with our hiring teams ranging from the c-suite to middle management & across multiple functions. This individual will need to project manage active candidates & devise unique & thoughtful outreach & engagement plans for passive talent  to ensure the timely completion of multiple vacancies. In addition, this person will aid in the development of our hiring content (JDs, Practical Exercises, Work Product Reviews) & the design of our hiring process. The right candidate must be comfortable partnering with c-level hiring managers, working on industry-unique vacancies, & organizing & leading the complete life cycle of recruitment, for their vacancies. In addition, they must possess a demonstrated history of maintaining extremely high behavioral standards for past hires. 

Reports to: Talent Acquisition Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Candidate Experience:  Promote & effectively communicate Pursuits long term vision & strategy, core mission & value proposition to all candidates. Effectively screen viable candidates & ensure they are clear on role expectations, cultural standards at pursuit, & interview process. Coach & guide candidates through the hiring process ensuring they have clear expectations on what skills & behaviors will be evaluated at each interview stage. 
  • Project Manage Vacancies: Coordinate & work closely with all hiring managers & candidates (both inbound & sourced)  Manage cross functional teams seamlessly & at a high level in order to properly execute the hiring process. 
  • Develop Hiring Content: Partner with Hiring Managers in order to develop job descriptions that effectively communicate the value & excitement of a role to passive candidates. In addition, ensure all vacancies have a clear hiring process complete with Practical Exercises & Work product Review Assignments.
  • Maintain Applicant Tracking System (Greenhouse): Ensure that all job vacancies are accurately reflected within Greenhouse & that candidates are on the correct jobs & interview stage. 
  • Support Hiring Teams: Lead preparation sessions with the hiring panel to ensure new interview stages are appropriately executed. Ensure interviewers have a clear sense on what they are assessing & the focal point of each interview. Also lead candidate debrief sessions for late stage candidates to ensure calibration & alignment on the vacancy & potential hire.  

Qualifications:

  • Full Cycle Recruiting: You've owned full cycle recruitment across a variety of disciplines, mainly business recruiting roles, in a startup environment. You have exposure/experience working with immigration/visa issues, & managing external agencies.
  • Passionate & Mission Driven: Deep commitment to Pursuits mission to help underserved & underrepresented communities achieve financial independence 
  • Relevant Education & Work Experience: Undergraduate degree & a minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a full-cycle recruiter within the Tech or Consulting industries. This experience will ideally have been in early-stage and/or high growth environments with each vacancy having a critical impact on business objectives. 
  • Superior Technical Skills & Toolkit: Project management expertise & experience. Strong analytical skills. Proven experience & track record of filling difficult vacancies, with passive talent. Comfort & expertise working within LinkedIn recruiter & Greenhouse is essential. 
  • Work Ethic, Results Driven & Attention to Detail: Hardworking, data driven, relentlessly meticulous, driven & outcomes focused. Experience working closely & building consensus with organizational leaders to achieve desired results
  • Strong Communications Skills: Outstanding verbal & written communication skills. Strong presence
  • Thoughtful & Creative: Intelligent, resourceful, flexible, & solution-oriented

Bonus points if you have:

  • Significant startup experience - ideally you've helped more than one company scale 
  • Executive Search - either from an agency or your internal remit as a recruiter

Where you'll work:

  • Hybrid - You will be working on site in our Long Island City, NY Office 2-3 days/week

Salary & Benefits:

$130,000 - 160,000 base with incentive-based performance bonus
