The Senior Automation Engineer brings technical experience in designing, implementing, & improving Automated Material Handling Systems & Technology within the fulfillment network. This role works closely with functional stakeholders, vendors, & other engineers to solve problems & reduce fulfillment costs with minimal direction.
You will
- Interface with external vendors & system integrators to design automated order fulfillment solutions. Scope & stay up to date on top industry technology such as AMRs, Robotics, ASRS, sortation systems, etc.
- Lead data analytic efforts for designing Automation & Material Handling Systems. Ability to extract clear & concise outputs from messy inputs.
- Analyze large sets of data & provide clear & actionable insights. Creating operations-facing productivity dashboards & being a pioneer for leveraging data to measure success.
- Optimize Distribution Center layouts, material flows, Automation equipment, etc.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional team members to ensure their business needs are met by new system designs.
- Support business case justification for new technology, CapEx purchases & process enhancements.
- Translate complex technical information into simple documentation & presentations, independently.
- Leverage GenAI to automate time consuming tasks & improve internal processes.
You are
- Extremely data-oriented & have built data-driven tools & models that provide valuable insights to complex problems.
- Experienced in equipment selection, design, standards, performance improvement, statistics.
- Able to work as part of a team & interact effectively with others.
- Able to analyze & provide solutions for cost reduction through automation implementation & cost/benefit analysis.
- A superior multi-tasker, & have the ability to meet concurrent project deadlines.
- Known for delivering polished, high quality presentations & reports that influence & accelerate business decision making
- Able to travel up to 25%, peaking up to 50% during project implementations.
You have
- BS Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar field required.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in multi-site industrial distribution, manufacturing, or processing environments preferred
- 5+ Years experience with SQL (Snowflake, MSSQL) & advanced data visualization tools (Tableau, Grafana, etc.)
- Experience with simulation software (FlexSim, etc.) & MOST modeling
- Experience with using Warehouse Control Systems (WCS/WES) & Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude & an ability to understand how equipment & systems operate.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, professional attitude, & approach (and the ability to interact with individuals at various levels of the organization, up & down).
