At Squarespace, our backend engineers work on Product Engineering teams, which are dedicated to creating the most seamless, integrated products possible. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Product Engineering Team Lead.

We are hiring for the following product team(s):

• Website Foundations: This team is responsible for maintaining & evolving the core technology that powers the Squarespace CMS on the backend. High performance, reliable APIs & efficient database access, caching customer requests & splitting apart a monolithic codebase are all within this team's purview. This team owns & maintains the crown jewel of Squarespace, our website builder

You'll Get To

• Practice disciplined software engineering, writing server-side code, create high-volume production applications, & developing prototypes quickly.
• You will lead the development of new features & build backend services with Java.
• Collaborate with other engineers & designers to provide intuitive customer-focused experiences.

Who We're Looking For

• 7+ years of development experience in Java, Python, Go or another Object-oriented language. Experience developing large-scale software.
• A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, & software design practices.
• A degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent industry experience.

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 - $231,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
