Squarespace is seeking an experienced Global Employee Relations Specialist to support the People team in fostering a positive workplace. This role will be responsible for investigating & resolving employee concerns, ensuring compliance with global labor laws, & guiding HRBPs on employee relations best practices. As our in-house expert, you will develop & refine processes, templates & tools to enhance our approach to employee relations, enabling quick & effective responses to workplace issues. You will also play a key role in refining our operating model to ensure the right teams & partners are engaged at the right time as we manage basic & complex cases.

You will report to the Head of People Operations. This is a hybrid role that will require 3 days per week in our NY office.

You'll Get To

Investigations & Case Management

  • Lead & conduct thorough investigations into complaints regarding harassment, discrimination, misconduct, & policy violations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, & preparing detailed reports with recommended actions.
  • Develop & implement logical, structured ER processes that are easily understood & applied across key stakeholders, managers & employees.
  • Partner with HRBPs, Benefits, Employment Counsel, Managers & employees to determine the best approach for each case, ensuring consistency & compliance.
  • Establish & maintain a robust case management system to track cases, identify trends, & provide data-driven insights to People leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies & labor laws across multiple regions, collaborating with legal teams to address region-specific compliance requirements.

Employee Relations Strategy & Advisory

  • Serve as an advisor to HRBPs, managers & leaders on complex employee relations matters, offering direction on best practices.
  • Partner with HRBPs & leadership to enhance conflict resolution strategies, performance management, & employee engagement efforts.

Training & Policy Enforcement

  • Develop & deliver training programs for HRBPs, Managers, & employees on workplace conduct, anti-harassment policies, conflict resolution & performance management.
  • Advise & educate managers on the interpretation & application of global employee procedures & policies, ensuring consistent application, enforcement & legal requirements.
  • Provide ongoing coaching & education to HRBPs & managers on employee relations process, tools, & templates to ensure consistency in approach to enhance awareness & capability.
  • Support change management efforts & ad hoc projects & initiatives as needed.

Global Compliance & Risk Management

  • Stay current on federal, state, & international employment laws, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations & best practices.
  • Analyze employee relations trends, identify risks, & recommend proactive solutions to foster a positive & inclusive workplace.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance ER frameworks, policies, & tools to support a positive & productive workplace.

Who We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of Employee Relations experience conducting investigations with at least 3 years in a global or multinational setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex workplace investigations with confidentiality, objectivity & professionalism.
  • Deep knowledge of global & local employment laws, including, FMLA, ADA, EEO, & other compliance regulations.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, risk mitigation strategies, & policy development.
  • Experience managing a broad range of workplace issues across multiple business lines & stakeholder levels.
  • Significant experience as a trusted cross-functional partner, handling sensitive information in a confidential manner & exercising professionalism & discretion in a fast-paced, & agile environment.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, & provide insights to drive ER strategy & decision making.
  • High emotional intelligence & cultural awareness to navigate global employee relations matters effectively.
  • Thorough understanding & application of internal & external HR principles, concepts, practices & standards
  • Demonstrated ability to drive large-scale projects, improve processes, & implement scalable, practical solutions. & cross-functional alignment, simplifying complex issues, & designing & operationalizing scalable, practical solutions.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, conflict resolution, & problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated record of identifying operational gaps, improving major processes & driving company policy & practices
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, & adapt in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for meetings, team events, & in-person collaboration with client groups.
  • Prior HR/ER experience in a global technology start-up is a plus.

Cash Compensation Range: $126,500 - $190,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to receive an incentive award as part of their total compensation.
