<P>Join us for the kickoff event for the Alliance of Girls in STEM for 2014!</P>
<P>Thanks to the XO Group for graciously sponsoring our event</P>
<P>The Alliance for Girls in STEM has one mission:</P>
<P>To produce picture books with tech themes for girls from 4-8 years old that show girls as the main characters in their own stories.</P>
<P>If you search through Amazon or your local bookstore carefully you will see something peculiar: if the subject is STEM-related, almost all of the main characters in the stories are boys. It is so overwhelming that it seems almost normal, even though girls and boys show roughly equal interest levels in science and math at those young ages.</P>
<P>Can we reduce future gender disparity in tech by changing the images that young girls see today? That is what we aim to find out, one book at a time!</P>
<P>We'll provide an update on the exciting things we have planned for the Alliance for Girls in STEM in 2014, and even play a game or two. We'll also give you plenty of time to mix and mingle with others who also believe in this important cause.</P>
