Putting equity back into our economy: making the green economy work for everyone
We need to put people at the heart of our climate transition. We need real, serious plans & action. Political policies must promote prosperity for all people. Business strategies must support all of society. The rewards of investing in people, equity & justice are clear.
This session will focus on:
How do we maximize the benefits of climate investments & ensure programs are designed to deliver funding & associated projects in an equitable way that advances racial, economic, & environmental justice?
How do we prioritise projects that create well paying climate jobs', but also creating a climate workforce' for the wider clean economy?
Justice, equity, & an inclusive economy won't be delivered by one bill or by a few projects. It can't just be the priority of one state? So, what needs to happen next? How do we continually invest & improve environmental & social justice in the climate movement?
How can we scale & speed-up investments in clean infrastructure, resilient food systems & smart technologies in emerging markets?
How can we rethink finance' to invest in a fairer, greener, cleaner global economy?
How can political & business strategies shift from debate to delivery?
This session is part of the Opening Ceremony for Climate Week NYC on September 19. Get more info on the other sessions of the day on the Opening Ceremony page, as well as the themes & events taking place as part of The Hub Live on September 20-21.
