Back by popular demand, Metis NYC will be hosting One Day at Bootcamp to give you a chance to see what the experience is really like!
Youll receive free, interactive training in Python, focusing on Pandas & SciKit Learn from Metis Senior Data Scientist, Kimberly Fessel.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The curriculum is designed for those familiar with Python data structures, loops, functions, & other common programming requirements.

Required prerequisites:

Familiarity with beginner Python

Computer with Anaconda installed

Schedule:

-10:00 - 10:30 - Setup & Orientation

- 10:30 - 11:00 - Intro to Machine Learning

- 11:00 - 12:00 - Intro to Pandas

- 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch

- 1:00 - 1:20 - Intro to Regression

- 1:20 - 3:00 - Predicting House Prices with Regression

After a brief introduction to the concepts of machine learning, we'll dive into a hands-on session with Pandas to wrangle data.

After lunch, we'll reconvene & focus on the basic theory of linear regression & how to apply it in a practical way. We'll use a dataset about house prices in Iowa to learn to make useful predictions.

About the Metis Instructor:

Kimberly uses her background in applied math to discover data's what, why, & how.

Kimberly joins Metis from MRM//McCann, a leading digital advertising agency, where she focused on helping clients understand their customers by leveraging unstructured data with modern NLP techniques. She is passionate about data storytelling & the power of compelling data visualizations to challenge pre-conceived assumptions. Kimberly's enthusiasm for teaching comes from her days as an academic. She holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute & completed a postdoctoral fellowship in math biology at the Ohio State University. In her spare time, Kimberly likes to stay active & particularly enjoys swing dancing, rollerblading, & jogging with her dog.
