ABOUT PANEL:

Enhanced research & data without surveillance enables urban planners, architects, designers, engineers, insurers, & builders with information they need to build more resilient communities. Learn how Yard-based entrepreneurs are developing data-based products to support data-driven solutions that both create pathways to immediately respond to climate change while also fostering pathways & research that lead to improved design & technology for the future. Join our three panelists as they discuss their work & the ways in which they would see their technologies & research applied both today & tomorrow.

ABOUT PANELISTS:

Delauno Hinson, Strategic Accounts, Near Space Labs. Delauno is a commercial leader at Near Space Labs. He helps large enterprise accounts prepare for, & react faster to the impact of major climate events on their physical asset portfolios. Prior to joining Near Space Labs, Delauno held a commercial leadership position at a Climate Tech startup focused on reducing carbon emission throughout the global shipping industry. Near Space Labs has a mission to provide universal access to high-quality geospatial imagery data as a means to provide communities with faster & more accurate information in order to tackle humanity's biggest challenges, including urbanization & climate change. The company provides ultra-high-resolution imagery of the planet & built environment, updated every 90 days, captured by the largest fleet of zero-emission, stratospheric robots in the world. Learn more at NearSpaceLabs.com.

Dr. Brendan Hermalyn, Founder & CEO, Thalo Labs. Born in The Bronx, Brendan is a scientist & engineer with a background in aerospace, environmental science, & sensing. Dr. Hermalyn has made systems that have been deployed on land, air, & space-from Antarctica to the moon. After appointments at the University of Hawaii & NASA Ames, he joined Skybox Imaging (acquired by Google) to run its space imaging systems group, lead Waymo's camera program, & most recently lead GM/Cruise's autonomous vehicle hardware programs before returning to New York City to start Thalo Labs. He holds a Ph.D. from Brown University & Masters degrees in engineering, mathematics, & geological sciences. Thalo Labs is an NYC-based company with a revolutionary new way to measure, reduce, & capture greenhouse gases from the built environment. Their cutting-edge carbon mitigation solution combines proprietary sensing, software, & capture systems to bring decarbonization tools previously reserved only for utility-scale power plants to the hands of every building owner. No estimates, no offsets real, third-party verified data & in-house low-power carbon capture. Learn more at ThaloLabs.com.

Dr. Ramona Hollie-Major, Chief Operating Officer, COI Energy. Ramona has 20+ years of senior-level experience in operations with specialties in strategic management, systems thinking, operations management, organizational change, educational leadership, brand management, program development, & community relations. She enjoys helping operationalize efficiencies in facilities to improve the bottom-line. COI Energy was built upon the belief that everyone has the inalienable right to live a dignified life & that includes having equitable access to clean energy. To make the world a better place for future generations to live, play, work, & thrive, we must educate, empower, impact & uplift everyone around us to create a climate friendly economy. We believe the path to a cleaner, healthier, & more equitable future is through reducing carbon emissions in the built environment while making the electric grid cleaner, more efficient, safer & reliable.
