Columbia University's M.S. in Sustainability Management alumni will share insights into the courses that shaped their professional journey.

Thinking about a future in sustainability? Join Columbia University's M.S. in Sustainability Management for a special panel workshop series, Workshops in Sustainability Career Paths & Curriculum, where alumni share which courses had the biggest impact on their careers-and why.

The workshop series offers an inside look at how Columbia's M.S. in Sustainability Management's curriculum translates into real-world skills & professional opportunities. Hear directly from graduates as they reflect on the classes that shaped their thinking, built their toolkits, & helped them launch successful careers in sustainability.

Registration is required - registrants can attend virtually or in person.

Dong Guo

Professor of Practice, Sustainability Management

Associate Director of the Research Program on Sustainability Policy & Management, Columbia University Climate School



Guo Dong is a professor in the practice of sustainability management at Columbia University. Guo is also the associate director of the Research Program on Sustainability Policy & Management at Columbia University's Climate School, where he formerly served as a research scholar. Guo teaches graduate-level courses in Microeconomic Policy & Analysis, Sustainability Metrics, & Sustainable City, among others at Columbia's School of International & Public Affairs & the School of Professional Studies. He was also a senior advisor for recruitment at the School of Professional Studies, & formerly served as the director of the Earth Institute China Initiative at Columbia University.

Guo is a non-resident fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York, & has consulted for Philips Co. & The State Grid Corporation of China on sustainability. Guo has taught courses at the prestigious Tsinghua University & Peking University, Shanghai University of Finance & Economics, as well as Henan University in China. Guo helped design an urban sustainability measurement system which produces annual rankings of 100 Chinese cities based on their sustainability performance. He has co-edited annual Blue Books on Sustainable Development in China, co-authored The Financial Ecosystem - the Role of Finance in Advancing Sustainability (with Satyajit Bose & Anne Simpson) & The Sustainable City, 2nd Edition (with Steven Cohen), which is also published in Chinese by CITIC Press. Guo Graduated from Columbia University Teachers College with a Ph.D. in Economics & Education, & received his MPA from Columbia, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics from University College London.

Murun Jargal

Senior Energy Data Analyst, Altus Power

Murun is a math & clean energy enthusiast who is working at a Commercial & Industrial scale solar company. She worked at the AI & Intelligent Automation Consulting division at EY where she worked with Utilities & began developing an interest in the Energy sector. This, combined with the growing up with tree-hugger parents, eventually led her to SUMA. At SUMA she mainly took Energy focused classes with the goal of working at a clean energy company. Now, she works in the Energy Optimization team that seeks to improve the performance of the solar & battery assets. Murun manages vendor contracts pertaining to asset maintenance, develops scripts & automations that streamline compliance reporting, & analyses potential acquisitions of assets & resources.



Yuanhe Zhu

Senior Specialist, Sustainability & Reporting, Porter Airlines

Vivian is a Senior Sustainability Specialist at Porter Airlines, where she oversees sustainability disclosures & overall strategy for this Canadian regional airline. She has several years of experience in corporate sustainability strategy & analysis, having previously worked at EcoVadis & Under Armour. Vivian holds an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University & a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto. Her expertise includes supply chain decarbonization, sustainability reporting, GHG accounting, stakeholder engagement, & sustainability ratings. In her free time, Vivian is passionate about circular fashion, enjoys oil painting, & practices Muay Thai.



Megha Mehdiratta

Senior Innovation Associate, New York Climate Exchange

Megha Mehdiratta is a Senior Innovation Associate at The New York Climate Exchange, where she works to accelerate progress at the intersection of climate finance, data, technology, & innovation.

Previously, she was a consultant at Pollination Group, advising governments, nonprofits, & financial institutions on climate finance strategies. Megha's entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding a sustainable e-commerce marketplace, supporting venture portfolio growth at H/L Ventures, & driving business innovation at GlacierGrid, a Series A climate-tech startup.

Earlier in her career, she led foreign investment initiatives & launched a nationwide technology-commercialization mission at Invest India, an initiative under India's Ministry of Commerce.

Megha holds a Master's in Sustainability Management from Columbia University & a Bachelor's in Political Economy from UC Berkeley. She also serves on the Junior Board of Wild Tomorrow, a nonprofit focused on conservation & rewilding in South Africa.



Akshay Malhotra

Associate Director, S&P Global

Akshay Malhotra is the Americas lead for the Methanol & Derivatives Research desk at S&P Global Commodity Insights. Akshay joined the organization in January 2025 & is based in Houston. He is part of the global research team that provides coverage on both conventional & low carbon (bio/green/blue) methanol projects around the world. He comes with over 14 years of cross-commodity experience spanning petrochemicals & metals, having previously worked for Tricon Energy, Tata Group & JP Morgan in commercial & operational roles. He has a Master's in Sustainability Management from Columbia University & an MBA in Finance & Strategy from Indian School of Business.
