Hack-o-ween: Civic Tech Buildathon is a three day hackathon focused on activating the local New York area with the support of Hackbox. The goal is to foster the understanding of NYC problems, & create tangible improvements of residents' lives through innovative solutions centered around blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, open data, education, financial literacy, health, environment, & more. Besides the competition of $10k+ in prizes, there will be workshops, learn-to-earn opportunities, & other spooky activities involved!

II. Garner a mindset rooted in practicality, emphasizing real-world applications as the driving force.
III. Build prototypes or MVPs that solve real-world problems in the realm of public goods.
IV. Validate market demand & user engagement for civic tech solutions.
V. Provide a platform for learning, networking, & future partnerships.
Categories
Community & cause engagement: designs that incentivize bringing people together virtually but especially IRL to care about improving aspects of their local neighborhoods.
Environmental sustainability: Solutions for a cleaner, more pedestrian friendly, nature-immersed, & less polluted New York.
Housing, Transportation, & Urban Development: Tools to deal with rising housing uncertainty & food insecurity.
Education & Financial Inclusion/Literacy: Enhance access to knowledge for communities, especially underrepresented ones, to support themselves emotionally, mentally, & financially.
Open Web Technology & Artificial Intelligence: Creating civic tools that will aid in addressing above issues.
Audience
Our audience will be a mix of local leaders & web2 & web3 builders who want to evolve local support systems, with emphasis on including marginalized populations.
Deliverables
An MVP (Minimum Viable Product) or working prototype of the solution.
A presentation or video summarizing the problem, solution, & future possibilities.
Documentation outlining the technical architecture, user flow, & future roadmap.
