In recent years, artificial intelligence, or A.I., has emerged as a fascinating-and to some, alarming-new technology. Many people use A.I. every day without even knowing it, in the form of autocorrect, online shopping recommendations, & social media feeds. But with the invented text of ChatGPT & photographic "deep fakes," the lines between reality & invention, & human & machine, have begun to blur. Will A.I. really be able to successfully replicate human intelligence-or can it do so already? Can it make our lives better? Could it take over the world? And what exactly is it? Technology innovator & thought leader Mike Pell answers these questions & more in a conversation with New-York Historical's president & CEO, Louise Mirrer.
Mike Pell has spent over three decades pushing the tech industry's boundaries of innovative design & technology, from his work on Adobe Acrobat & early smartphone design to his current role as director of the Microsoft Garage in New York City. Louise Mirrer (moderator) is the president & CEO of the New-York Historical Society.
