Fireside Chat: Colin Ahern, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer, City of New York Cyber Command

Colin Ahern is the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the City of New York & oversees Security Sciences for NYC Cyber Command.

Before joining the City of New York he worked in financial services as a security engineer & cyber threat researcher. Colin also served seven years in the US Army & was awarded the Bronze Star (Meritorious) for his service in Afghanistan.

He has degrees from Tulane University & New York University & is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional & Google Certified Professional Data Engineer. He lives with his wife & daughter in Brooklyn.

Jeff Capone, CEO & Co-Founder of SecureCircle

Jeff Capone, PhD, is CEO of the security startup, SecureCircle, which he founded in 2015. An award-winning executive leader with expertise in enterprise software development, network & storage solutions, & IoT applications, Jeff has a track record of founding & selling successful software companies. He developed SecureCircles patent-pending Transparent File Encryption solution designed to transparently protect unstructured data in any form.

Prior to SecureCircle, Jeff served as CTO at NETGEAR & CEO & Co-Founder of Leaf Networks, which was acquired by NETGEAR. Prior to Leaf Networks, Jeff co-founded Aligo & served as the CTO until 2004 where he led the companys technology vision.

Prior to Aligo, Jeff was an assistant professor at Arizona State University & Director of the Network Engineering & Wireless Telecom Laboratory. Jeff's distinctions include the National Science Foundation's CAREER award, numerous IEEE Journal & conference publications.
