DETAILS

This month we're joined by M. Joy McClure, a research consultant specializing in psychological & behavioral science, who will be discussing the science of how social support can go awry, how to provide support most effectively, & why it might be even more important to provide good support in times of success.

Believing that others will be there to support us in times of trouble is critical to our wellbeing. However, the day-to-day interactions where we give & receive support are complex, & even well-intended support can make us feel worse instead of better.

M. Joy McClure is a research consultant specializing in psychological & behavioral science with over a decade of experience translating research into clear insights & actionable strategies. Her overarching aim is to use data & research to help people feel & function better - at work, at home, & in their communities. Previously, she was a manager on the Product Innovation team at MindGym, a lecturer at the University of Winnipeg, & a professor at Adelphi University. She got her PhD in social psychology at McGill University & was a post-doc at Columbia University & New York University.
