We're excited to invite you to our latest Anew Salon, an intimate interview series centered on a new era of leadership & solution making, this time in conversation with Nabiha Syed, CEO of Mozilla Foundation.
Our Anew Salon features conversations with mission-driven experts who are transforming companies, sectors, cities, & communities in brave, genre-defying new ways.
This discussion will focus on how changemaking actually works, including the often messy work of forging new paths. Following the talk, we'll facilitate a lively interactive conversation. This event will be especially relevant to anyone interested in solutions-oriented work, looking for inspiration, insight, & connection to an ecosystem of problem solvers.
For our latest Anew Salon, we're excited to feature Nabiha Syed, CEO of Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit delivering people-first tech alternatives to today's extractive systems.
Doors will open at 5pm, & the program will start by 5:30pm, followed by socializing until 7pm.
Nabiha Syed leads the Mozilla Foundation, where she backs the technology markets won't build (yet): practical tools for overlooked problems, technology that turns possibility into something people can use, & ideas whose most important customer isn't capital. Underneath all of it is one question: Who gets to decide what technology is for?
She came to that question as a First Amendment lawyer, first as The New York Times' First Amendment Fellow, in private practice, & then as BuzzFeed's first newsroom lawyer, defending journalists at the frontier where new technologies collided with old rules about speech, privacy, & the public's right to know. She then co-built & led The Markup, the investigative newsroom that used data journalism to show how algorithms govern everyday life; Fast Company named it one of the world's most innovative companies.
Anew is a gathering space & discovery center for social transformation located in NYC. We host interactive events & workshops, an accelerator program for nonprofits, & a retail lab featuring ethically-sourced coffee & gifts.
