Walk almost any neighborhood in New York City & the past inevitably collides with the future, since the city is ever-evolving. Today, New York City's legislation provides protected status to 158 historic districts, 1,464 individual landmarks, 123 interior landmarks & even 12 scenic landmarks.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the law's passage, American preservationist & historian Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel commissioned some of the most significant & creative architecture critics, engineers, landscape architects, historians & scholars to explore the complex history of New York City's evolution & its future.
Join us for a lively discussion about the impact, legacy & current & future status of historic preservation in New York City. The discussion is meant to inspire reflection, hope & excitement about the future of the NEW New York City, its complex history & its never-ending transformation.
