About this event
Nasdaq Center's welcome session where we'll walk you through resources available & spend time on one of our favorite topics, increasing finance optionality.

We invite you to join our Executive Director, Nicola Corzine, along with Center Board Members, Roburta Burroughs & Michelle Di Gangi to guide you through available resources. We'll also spend time exploring, what we know is a top pain point for entrepreneurs - finance optionality offering some practical guidance & actions you can take starting today.

Before spending hours on worrying about fundraising, let's start by getting you on the right path with your fundraising goals. This session will help you gain clarity on the right fundraising strategy for you based on your specific needs.

Nicola Corzine

Executive Director of the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center
Nicola Corzine serves as the Executive Director of the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center, a non-profit that delivers world-class resources & mentoring to enable every entrepreneur across the globe to realize their maximum potential. As Executive Director, Nicola is responsible for strategic & operational leadership that help drive research, programing, fundraising, & operations for the organization.

Nicola brings over 17 years of strategic business development & entrepreneurial thought leadership programming experience to the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center, most recently in her role as Deal Manager for the Band of Angels, a position held since 2004 as well as Investment Partner in the 2009 Acorn fund which includes investments in Practice Fusion, Niveus Medical, & Flywheel, one of the biggest names in the E-hailing industry. During her time at the Band, she was as an early advisor to Startup America & led the development of the first national & regional Angel Capital Association conferences.

Prior to Band of Angels, Nicola was the founder & executive director of Financing Partners, an organization that delivered education to both entrepreneurs & investors to enable them to reach their mutual objectives. Before Band of Angels, she was part of three startup companies in the US & UK.

Nicola is a frequent speaker on angel investing, technology trends & seed financing at Universities including Stanford, Wharton & Duke, national conferences, including IEEE Women in Engineering, NVCA & Innovation Enterprise, & has served as a formation advisor to several regional & international angel groups & seed funds.

Michelle Di Gangi

EVP, Head of Small & Medium Enterprise Banking, Bank of the West
Michelle Di Gangi joined San Francisco based Bank of the West in 2008 as Executive Vice President, Group Head of Small & Medium Enterprise Banking. Michelle manages small & medium-size business banking segment across Bank of the West's 19 state footprint including Business Banking activities, SBA lending, SME Construction Lending, underwriting & loan operations, & strategy for distribution through the bank's retail banking network.

From 2016- 2021, Michelle has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Women to Watch in banking by American Banker for its prestigious Most Powerful Women in Banking & Finance program. In 2014 & 2017, she, along with nine other female Bank of the West executives, also received a Top Teams award from American Banker. In addition, the San Francisco Business Times recognized Michelle in its 2010 - 2016 lists of the Bay Area's Most Influential Women in Business.

Michelle has over 30 years of experience in commercial, small business & business banking strategies, credit administration, risk & regulatory management, & direct management of commercial & business banking. Prior to joining Bank of the West, Michelle served as executive vice president & director of commercial banking at Greater Bay Bancorp, in East Palo Alto, Calif. There she was responsible for building & leading a team focused on finding new lending opportunities & other business development initiatives.

Michelle began her banking career with Wells Fargo's Commercial Banking group serving in various roles including as credit & loan team manager. She later moved to Wells' Business Banking group where her roles included senior credit officer, area manager in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, & Executive Vice President & division manager of Bay Area Business Banking.

Michelle holds an undergraduate degree & an MBA in Finance & Marketing from University of California, Los Angeles & a Masters in Special Education from University of Southern CA

Roburta Burroughs
CAB Member of the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center & Board Observer
Roburta Burroughs is currently helping Fortune 500 companies make digital transformation easier. Ms. Burroughs is now using her expertise & abilities at WalkMe, the leader & creator of the Digital Adoption Platform. She works with customers advising & driving digital adoption & digital transformation goals to outcomes that will have a meaningful impact on some of the most well-known companies in the world today.

Before WalkMe, Roburta worked at Nasdaq for 5 years. Ms. Burroughs had responsibilities driven by the urgency & high-level analysis, impact on capital markets & communication for Investor Relations Professionals & C-Suite executives who were her customers. Between Nasdaq & WalkMe, she also worked for Mixpanel with product & marketing teams to inform them on data analysis & predictive analytics. In addition to her extensive experience working with Investor Relations teams at the highest business levels, she currently is a center board advisor for the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center. At the Center, Roburta helped secure funding for one of the first sponsors, she has helped to bring on other Board Advisors, & helped create & curate multiple content lines for entrepreneurs. Roburta was the creator & host of the Breakthrough - a segment focusing on the advancement of entrepreneurs we don't usually see. (Women, POC, & others).

Roburta was appointed recently to serve as an actual Board Member & Liaison to the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center. She thinks entrepreneurship can be the great equalizer & she supports those who have the courage to take & make that their livelihood.
