In this talk, Dr. Mariss Mass-Solano will share how cutting-edge technology developed at Cornell Tech is being used to transform eye care access through her startup, Iriscience. She will explore how artificial intelligence & smartphone-based diagnostics can detect preventable conditions like cataracts-and how these tools are being designed for use in community clinics, pharmacies, & underserved regions. Mariss will also discuss her broader vision for "oculomics," the science of using the eye to detect systemic diseases, & how innovation on Roosevelt Island is contributing to global health equity.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Mariss Mass-Solano is a glaucoma specialist & biomedical scientist with a PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of California San Francisco & the University of Montreal. She is the founder & CEO of Iriscience, a Cornell Tech-supported digital health startup developing AI-powered tools for remote ocular diagnostics. With over 15 years of clinical experience & a passion for public health, Mariss is working to expand access to vision care & pioneer new approaches to early disease detection through the eye.
