Summary: How do you develop a robust applications dealing with Kafka? How can we use CI/CD to make our life simpler? How to handle invalid messages, schema evolution, & data quality? Many challenges ahead. Here, I will focus on common mistakes & challenges in the Kafka landscape & how to mitigate them. We will cover how CI/CD practices help address these issues & their limitations. We'll discuss how to deal with poison pills & DLQ (what makes a good DLQ?), & how to deal with your Product Owner requirements. Finally, we'll compare the creation of a custom SDK versus using a Kafka proxy, & look ahead to future innovations that could transform the Kafka landscape. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your Kafka knowledge & skills.

The second talk:
Summary: Apache Kafka as a Service - Over $45 Trillion dollars of assets run on SS&C technologies. Apache Kafka plays a part in that. We have built 3 flavors of Kafka as a Service to provide solutions like CDC with our mainframes to democratize our data within our private cloud. First we will talk a little bit about our private cloud. Then we will go through each flavor of how we provide Kafka as a service & why different business units might choose that over another. Then we will touch on our CDC with our mainframes.
Bio: Joe Stein was an Apache Kafka Committer & PMC member from 2010 to 2016 & has worked on dozens of production Kafka clusters over the years for companies like Bloomberg, Crowdstrike, Cisco, EMC, Verizon, Twitch, Bridgewater Associates & more.
