Speaker 1: Kate Merton, Head of JLABS @ NYC, Johnson & Johnson Innovation
Kate Merton is Head of Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS @ NYC. Kate has over 15 years of experience working across the Healthcare industry starting in R&D before moving onto roles in in Marketing, Business Development, External Alliances, Medical Affairs, Health Outcomes & most recently Disruptive Innovation. During her career Kate has been part of teams that have discovered new drugs, worked to develop & gain approval for blockbuster diabetes products & is passionate about being part of the future of healthcare where science intersects with the rapid advancements in health care technology. Kate received her undergraduate degree in Pharmacology & Toxicology from King's College London, holds a PhD in Pharmacology & Toxicology from University of California, Irvine Medical School & received her MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.


Speaker 2: Noel Goddard, Principal at Accelerate NY Seed Fund
Noel Goddard is a Principal for the Accelerate NY Seed Fund where she evaluates & performs diligence on applicant companies & their technologies. Prior toher role with Accelerate NY, Noel directed the formulation R&D for Symbiotic Health, a NYC startup company focused on oral drug delivery of cellular & biologic therapeutics for diseases in lower GI tract.She also founded a food safety diagnostics company in Calverton, NY, & worked with Sapling Learning, a STEM educational software startup acquired by Macmillan Learning.Noel obtained her PhD from Rockefeller University, postdoc-ed at Harvard Medical School as a fellow in the Society of Fellows, & served as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Hunter College, CUNY, before joining the NY entrepreneurial community.
