EVENT DETAILS
Join Tech Ladies NYC for an evening of networking, happy hour, & a panel discussion on navigating the workplace as the only one.
About this Event
The Only' Experience - was highlighted in the McKinsey study Women in the Workplace 2018 where being the only one is still a common experience for women. They can be one of the only women in the room at work -- which is where we get the term, the Onlys. Being the only extends past gender, & we invite you for a panel discussion where we will explore this topic in a wider sense.

Schedule:

6:00 - 6:30 PM - Welcome & Networking

6:30 - 6:40 PM - Intro to Panelists

6:40 - 7:30 PM - Panel Discussion

7:30 - 8:00 PM - Networking Continued

Panelists:

Celene Chang:

Having been an athlete during her youth, Celene was used to being the only woman & was generally unphased by the male-dominated environment at Datadog. Then she became the Only mom in the New York office (and one of just a few in the company,) & felt wholly unprepared & alone. She is currently a Senior Software Engineer & motivated to help foster community for women (and future moms) at Datadog & beyond.

Alp Ozcelik:

Alp Ozcelik is a Senior Product Support Specialist at BuzzFeed. He lives in New York & is passionate about the intersection of tech policy & its applications to LGBTQ+ life.

Bie Aweh:

Bie is a Learning & Development professional passionate about connecting underrepresented populations to the innovation economy.

Geoffrey Kwan:

Geoffrey Kwan is currently a University Recruiter at Datadog hiring interns & recent grads for our engineering teams & building their presence across different universities & was previously in a similar capacity at Facebook. He finds himself in marginalized groups of Asian & LGBTQ but rarely finds an intersectionality of that in the workplace. Being at the forefront of interacting with students, organizations & colleagues, diversity & inclusion has been a huge driving factor for him for both his professional & personal life.

Sponsor

Light bites & refreshments will be provided by Datadog, a leading infrastructure & application monitoring platform for cloud based solutions. This fast growing SaaS company has grown to over 1000+ employees worldwide.
