EVENT DETAILS |
If you haven't heard of one before, a Drink & Draw is exactly like it sounds. We get together over drinks and music, for camaraderie, cool conversation and to make our magic happen (magic as in art, not what you were thinking). We are inviting creatives to gather for our first Drink & Draw entitled #PixelProtest. Our theme is focused on fostering concepts of equality, enforcing civil rights, the ecology and preserving societal values within the current political climate.

According to a recent article on Forbes.com, Social Impact will emerge as one of the major design trends of 2017. The time is right for designers to move to the forefront by creating imagery outside of the commercial realm.
"Social Impact - As a reaction to the 2016 election, more designers will consider the social impact of the products and services they build. You'll see more projects focused on fixing politics, healthcare, civic planning, and many other spaces that have been underserved by design."
This is a BYOD gathering were attendees bring their own digital devices (laptops, tablets, phablets and smartphones) to create graphics, gifs, video, flyers, memes and social media posts expressing how they choose to #Resist and their concerns about our government and society. Artists will be given the option to upload their #PixelProtest messages to a shared location with a Creative Commons license for use in the public domain by others that see the importance of creativity in protest. Ideally, some of the pieces can help spread a positive message for people whether they are reaching a handful of friends on Facebook or at a massive rally.
