ABOUT THE EVENT:
7:00 - 8:00 PM: The Pitches (Theater)
8:00 - 9:30 PM: VR Gallery + Reception (Media Arts Gallery, Lounge)
THE PITCHES:
Five amazing virtual reality, augmented reality, and/or immersive projects will be selected by the Made in NY Media Center by IFP staff to present a five minute-long pitch to a panel of industry judges, & to our live audience.
Cyril Tsiboulski is co-founder of Cloudred, an interactive design studio in NYC. Their clients include The NYC AIDS Memorial, The Museum of Jewish Heritage, Mayor of London, & UNICEF. Their work has earned recognition by The Webbys, NYC Open Data, AIGA, SXSW, IxDA, Communication Arts, & Time Magazine. Cyril is also a faculty member at NYU's Digital Communications & Media program. In 2018, he & his long time artistic partner Illya Szilak created their first VR project, Queerskins: a love story. Featuring an interactive installation & performance photography, the VR experience premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival & went on to critical acclaim at festivals around the world, including a month-long solo exhibition at the Toronto International Film Festival's Light Box Gallery. In 2019, the Venice Biennale College selected their second VR project, Queerskins: ark, the second chapter of the Queerskins story, for its Cinema VR Lab.
Casey Pugh is an Emmy-winning creative technologist immersed in the online video industry for the past 11 years. As Head of Creator Labs at Vimeo, Casey leads the vision, strategy & execution for pushing the video platform beyond its existing storytelling boundaries. In 2009, he created Star Wars Uncut, a crowd-sourced remake of classic Star Wars movies that won a 2010 Primetime Emmy. Casey was an early employee of Vimeo & co-founder of VHX, a technology solution for creators building & distributing premium over-the-top (OTT) video channels, which was acquired by Vimeo in May 2016.
Yasmin Elayat is an Emmy-award winning immersive director & CMO/Co-Founder at Scatter, an immersive entertainment & software company pioneering Volumetric Filmmaking. Yasmin directed Scatter's Zero Days VR (Sundance 2017) a documentary about cyber warfare & the Stuxnet virus, which won the Emmy for Original Approaches: Documentary. Yasmin's work has won multiple awards & exhibited at various festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, SIGGRAPH, Festival de Cannes, & the World Economic Forum.
James George is CEO & Co-Founder of Scatter, a company dedicated to defining the emerging language of Volumetric Filmmaking. Prior to Scatter, James was a practicing media artist. His work has been exhibited at Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Barbican in London, Ars Electronica, Sundance New Frontier, & Tribeca Film Festival Storyscapes. He was also the first artist in residence at Microsoft Research in Redmond, Washington.
