AtFarmigo, we want to transform the way we think about food, technology, and community - which is exactly what we're aiming to do with our monthly FoodHacker series.

The theme of our September talk is Bittersweet, and will feature four local entrepreneurs, as they share their stories and experiences about working in the food world.

The question of the night for our speakers* What was a moment in your career when you suffered a setback that ended up being a positive experience?

Benzi Ronen (Moderator);Founder and CEO ofFarmigoFarmigo works to make local, farm-to-table food easily available, connecting farmers to neighbors, neighbors to each other, and everyone to a better way to eat.

Allison Robicelli (Speaker); Co-Owner of Robicellis Bakery Allison is half of the team behind Robicellis, working alongside husband Matt in their Brooklyn bakery. Whether its Chicken n Waffles Cupcakes, Creme Brulee Pie, or some classic Whoopie Pies, they turn out delicious, honest, and imaginative baked goods.

Paul Lightfoot (Speaker); CEO of BrightFarms A passionate food zealot, Paul works to bring people into the BrightFarms family to replace a broken food system with a better one, financing, designing, building, and operating greenhouses at farms or supermarkets.

Ted D'Cruz-Young (Speaker);CEO of Mealku- Ted is the founder and CEO of Mealku, anonline meal cooperative launched that connects home cooks who trade meals. Previous to Mealku, Ted foundedthe marketing agency Ideocracy.


Douglas Gayeton (Speaker); Co-Founder ofLexicon of Sustainability -Taxonomist, filmmaker, photographer and writer, Douglas hascreated award-winning work at the boundaries of traditional andconverging media since the early 90s. Since then hes created online communities, creatively overseen groundbreakingdigital work, and directed numerous projects for television.Douglas is also the author ofSLOW: Life in a Tuscan Town, and the forthcoming book Local: The NewFace of Food & Farming in America.

Douglas will be signing copies of his new book,Local,after the stories!
